NCAA Conference Tournament time is very exciting time for sports bettors. Today I see a couple of solid NCAA Basketball Picks loaded with value as far as totals are concerned.

#19 North Carolina Tarheels (23-10, 11-7) vs. #3 Virginia Cavaliers (29-2, 16-2)

ACC Tournament Semifinals
It's very rare that a team with a record of the Tarheels have such a high ranking in the AP Poll, but we have to remember that they play in the best conference in all of college basketball and their schedule is a killer. Not only that, the Heels are just a 4.5 point betting underdog in today's NCAA basketball odds and having this game being played in the state of North Carolina could have some effect on the betting line.

North Carolina comes into this game off of a win over Boston College and a huge 70-60 victory over Rick Pitino's Louisville Cardinals. The Louisville game alone, will give the Tarheels a ton of confidence coming into this game. Louisville simply couldn't get their offense going, shooting 34.9% from the field and just 4 of 22 from 3-point range.

The Tarheels weren't world-beaters themselves, but a 22 point ,7 rebound effort from Brice Johnson and some spectacular overall player from Marcus Paige (4 steals), helped the Heels turn the tide in their favor and it's on to face one of the best teams in college basketball in the Virginia Cavaliers.

Brice Johnson
One of the strengths to North Carolina as a team is their ability to rebound the basketball and it starts with the play of Brice Johnson. Johnson has stepped up his game in a major way in UNC's last 3 games, averaging 18.7 points and 7.7 rebounds. Johnson has also shot the basketball quite well, shooting 23 of 44 from the field. Tonight's game will be the big test for the 6 foot 9 junior. Look for him to pass with flying colors as he's proven to be a big money player.

With Paige at point guard and Johnson at the power forward position, the Tarheels are 2nd in the nation in rebounding and assists and Virginia can't take this game lightly.

The Art of Defense
Virginia has seemed to master it and that's why they've been such a successful ball club this season. In their last 10 games, Virginia has held their opponent to less than 60 points. In 7 of these games, the Cavs have held the opposition to under 50 points. Facing Virginia's defense would be a tall order for any team in the nation. The only real negative to Virginia's play as of late is that they lost to the same team that UNC beat in the Louisville Cardinals on March 7th. That said, the Cavs quickly recovered with a 58-44 victory over the Florida State Seminoles

I don't need to go any further. The under is the play.

#11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (27-5, 14-4) vs. Duke Blue Devils (29-3, 15-3)

A Test For the Blue Devils
We all know that Duke prides themselves on winning the ACC Tournament Championship each and every season and for the most part, they've dominated under the leadership of Coach Krzyzewski. Notre Dame is a team that Duke can't overlook as the Irish have had an exceptional season and have exceeded expectations. The betting total for this game is sky high at 150.5.

For Duke, who averages 81.1 point per game, the over is the play when the opponents play well against the Blue Devils, which is rare. A good example of this is Duke's recent 77-53 victory over N.C. State. Where this game is concerned, we don't have to worry about the over. Notre Dame also has one of the most productive offenses in college basketball at 78.6 points per game. Notre Dame has won 6 out of their last 7 games with an impressive 71-59 victory over Louisville included.

Familiar Faces
The key to this matchup is that these two teams have met before on two separate occasions. In the first battle (January 28th), Notre Dame won at home 77-73 and in the 2nd game at Cameron Indoor Stadium (February 7th), Duke clobbered the Fighting Irish, 90-60. Duke will have somewhat of a home court advantage as this game will be played in the state of North Carolina. If Notre Dame basically shows up, this game will go over the betting total.

Notre Dame will need a bounce back performance from leading scorer, Jerian Grant, and I expect Grant to be up to the task at hand as this is a huge game. In a game such as this, we never have to question the effort of players like Quinn Cook, Tyus Jones, and Jahlil Okafor. Coach K will have Duke ready. The over is the best NCAA Basketball Pick.
