The Iowa State Cyclones have gone OVER the total in 11 consecutive games, but that streak will likely come to an end against the Oklahoma State Cowboys Wednesday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the NCAA Basketball odds for this Big 12 Conference matchup that tips off at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Playing solid basketball

Oklahoma State has won 10 of its last 11 games, including a 78-65 victory over the Texas Longhorns as 13-point home favorites last Saturday, while going OVER the posted total for the first time in four contests.

The Cowboys are 12-4 straight up (SU) and 7-8 against the spread (ATS) versus conference foes this year, while the UNDER is 6-3 in that situation.

You knew it was coming

Iowa State has dropped back-to-back games for the third time during the 2012-13 college basketball season, as it suffered an 86-69 setback to the Oklahoma Sooners as 4.5-point road underdogs last Saturday.

Many college basketball handicappers were expecting a flat performance out of the Cyclones in that spot, considering they were coming off a deflating 108-96 overtime loss to the Kansas Jayhawks on Feb. 25.

The program is 2-0 SUATS after suffering two consecutive losses this season.

Cowboys defense is the key

The OVER is 11-5-1 in the last 17 meetings in this series, but I feel that Oklahoma State’s defense will rise to the occasion in this affair, as it has held 22 of 28 opponents to under 70 points this season.

The Cowboys are allowing just 61.2 points per game on 38.6 percent shooting, as they prepare to face the nation’s fourth-best offense in terms of scoring.

Both teams are balanced offensively

Iowa State is one of three teams nationally (Missouri/NC State) with five players averaging 10 or more points per game, while Oklahoma State is the only team in the Big 12 with three roster members ranking in the league’s top-eight in scoring.

In the first meeting on Jan. 30, the Cowboys came away with a 78-76 victory as seven-point home favorites, with five players finishing in double figures in the scoring column.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the UNDER as one of their college basketball picks Wednesday night, as this number is 8.5 points higher than any other total the Cowboys have played under during conference play.
