The Indiana Hoosiers and Ohio State Buckeyes have gone OVER the betting total in five of their last six meetings in Bloomington, but that trend could start reversing its course Tuesday night. Where are we looking to place our NCAA Basketball picks in this matchup?

Let’s take a closer look at the college basketball betting line for this Big Ten Conference affair that tips off at 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Playing defense

Ohio State has won four of its last five games, including a 63-53 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats as 11-point road favorites, while going UNDER the total for a third consecutive contests.

The Buckeyes have held opponents to 60 points or less in each of those affairs, while they’ve allowed 58.9 points on 39.6 percent shooting for the entire 2012-13 season.

Lead the nation in scoring margin

Indiana bounced back from its fourth loss of the season last time out, as it earned a 73-60 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes as 13.5-point home favorites, while going UNDER the posted total of 146.5.

The Hoosiers lead the nation in outscoring foes by an average of 20.1 points per game, which has led directly to their 23-4 straight up and 15-12 against-the-spread (ATS) record.

Opposite ends of the spectrum versus top-25 teams

Looking at the NCAA Basketball odds, bettors should have an interest in laying the points in this spot, considering the Hoosiers have won their last eight home games versus ranked opponents, while the Buckeye have dropped all five of their road games this year against such opponents.

Indiana paces the nation with a perfect 6-0 record versus ranked opponents this season, which includes a convincing 81-68 victory over Ohio State as one-point road underdogs Feb. 10.

Trending under

From a situational standpoint, I believe we’re getting great sports betting value in this spot, as the Buckeyes have gone UNDER the number in both of their road games with a betting total between 140 to 144.5.

The Hoosiers have fallen short of the total in their last three games at home within the same point range, as they’ve drastically improved on the defensive end since the start of the 2011-12 season.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their college basketball picks Tuesday night, as the UNDER is 12-5 in the Buckeyes’ last 17 conference games, while the Hoosiers have fallen short of the number in five of their last seven home games.
