We're off to the races with another full slate of games for Friday. And a big slate offers many opportunities to beat the book. It's NCAA Basketball Picks of the Day and time to make some coin for the bettor.

Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-0) vs. #14 UCLA Bruins (5-0)

We've been beating a dead horse with much success with the nationally ranked UCLA Bruins and UCLA has a matchup against the 4-0 Nebraska Cornushukers tonight. Is this the day that the Bruins falter and "run out of real estate" where winning is concerned.

It's not necessarily a home court advantage, but this is like a home game for UCLA as this game will be played at Titan Gym in Fullerton, California. At this point, it seem's like UCLA could play in Siberia and win as they're off to a fast start to the season thanks to the play of senior Bryce Alford and freshman T.J. Leaf. After an easy 99-77 victory over the previously undefeated Portland Pilots, it appears that the Bruins will be a tough team to compete with nevermind defeat.

Inside and Outside Presence

While Alford is 8 of 14 from beyond the arc in his last 2 games, he's played fairly average. T.J. Leaf has cemented his spot as the top dog on this UCLA team in just his first season. Leaf has been one rebound away in his last two games from possessing 4 double-doubles in 4 of 5 games this season.

This is an efficient player that get's a lot of shots around the basket and converts. He's shooting a sizzling 71.7% from the field along with averaging 19 points and 9.8 rebounds. With Alford and Leaf, the Bruins have an outside presence and an inside presence and are a very fundamentally sound basketball squad. I have total confidence in this team. I had no doubt about them when they faced the undefeated Pilots and I have little concern here as they square off against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

As for the Cornhuskers, they were lucky to escape the Wooden Legacy Tournament with an 80-78 victory over the Dayton Flyers. Glynn Watson Jr's two free throws broke a 78-78 tie and has enabled Nebraska to remain undefeated. (2-2) Dayton is a far cry from UCLA and the Bruins are a mere 9 point betting favorite. UCLA could easily be a double figured favorite in this game, therefore making the NCAA Basketball odds very attractive for Bruins backers.

One player to watch for Nebraska is senior Tai Webster. He's shot the ball well from the field and is a multi-faceted player that can play both ends of the court. He leads Nebraska with 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. That said, I've made it pretty clear that the Bruins are the NCAA basketball pick here.

Free NCAA Basketball Pick: UCLA Bruins -9

Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3120902, "sportsbooksIds":[19,93,1096,123,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]

Belmont Bruins (1-2) vs. #23 Rhode Island Rams (4-1)

The Rhode Island Rams Have Finally Reached the AP Top 25. Can they remain there or can the Belmont Bruins come up with the upset victory?

It took head coach Dan Hurley a long time of grinding, coaching in New Jersey high school basketball and then turning Wagner from one of the worst teams in college basketball, to a big-time winner. Now, Hurley has carried the Hurley name well as he's turned Rhode Island from a losing squad into a top 25 team in a matter of a few years.

The last thing that this coach will do is have his team take a game lightly such as Belmont as the Rams look to remain a powerhouse in college basketball. Belmont is 1-2 and a below average team, but has faced teams such as Florida and kept the game withing less than 20 points as they went down in defeat. Off of that performance alone, bettors shouldn't take Belmont lightly.

Rhode Island is coming off of a 75-65 loss to the Duke Blue Devils and the Rams kept the game competitive. This was expected as Rhode Island is a team that's much improved, but not in the league of Duke just yet. One thing that Rhode Island can take away from this game was the outstanding overall play of forward Hassan Martin. Martin had 15 points and 6 rebounds against the top team in the nation, but the big number to take away from this game where Martin is concerned is the 7 blocks on defense. Just like Duke, this is a well taught group of young players and good defense wins basketball games.

Bounce Back Performance For Matthews

Look for leading scorer, E.C. Matthews, who had a relatively low key game against Duke to bounce back as the level of competition takes a major drop. Matthews leads the Rams with 17.4 points, 4 rebounds, and is shooting 47.6% from beyond the arc. He's not a player that will beat himself or hurt his team as he's a player that won't commit a ton of turnovers.

Player To Watch

In Rhode Island's case, it's player to "shadow" as forward Evan Bradds has come out of the gates fast in his senior season. He's averaging 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and is shooting 61% from the field. I don't think that the Rams can contain him, but one player doesn't make a team and Rhode Island is a much better overall basketball squad.

Free NCAA Basketball Pick: Rhode Island Rams -14 (-105)

Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3101069, "sportsbooksIds":[19,93,1096,123,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
