We've hit the month of December and on the 1st day of this month, there's a limited amount of NCAA Basketball games. There's still plenty of opportunities to make a profit. Here are your NCAA Basketball Picks of the Day for Thursday.

Cincinnati Bearcats (5-1) vs #19 Iowa State Cyclones (5-1)

The Cincinnati Bearcats are off to a sizzling 5-1 start to the season. Tonight, they look to make their case for a spot in the AP Top 25. The task won't be so easy as they face a nationally ranked Iowa State Cyclones team that has faced tougher opponents than the Bearcats and are at home.

Battle-Tested

Although they suffered a 73-71 loss at the hands of Gonzaga, the Iowa Cyclones put up a good showing against a top-rated NCAA Basketball team and showed intestinal fortitude with a blazing comeback in the 2nd half in the Advocare Invitational.

Now, the Cyclones must face a different opponent, but the level of competition takes a slight drop as Iowa State is a 6 point betting favorite at home. The line movement has been going in Cincinnati's direction, but I'm not so sure that I agree with this as Cincy really hasn't proven too much this season due to their weak early season schedule.

Total All-Around Game

This is an attribute that Iowa State leading scorer, Monte Morris, possesses as he's averaging 16 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. Morris is also shooting very efficiently as he's shooting 52.6 % from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc. This isn't a player that will beat himself as he's averaging a mere turnover per game.

On the negative end of the spectrum, Morris hasn't been able to hit his shots in his last 2 games. He's averaging 10 points per game on a dismal 8 of 24 from the field. Although the Cyclones have other options in Nazareth Mitrou-Long (15.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists), they really need their leader, Monte Morris, to have a bounce back game as this game could go down to the wire.

As for the Cincinnati Bearcats, they're a two man show as Jacob Evans and Kyle Washington account for 34.6 of the team's 77 points per game, 14 of their 37 rebounds, and are both 50 % shooters from the field and 40 plus % shooters from beyond the arc. One or both of these players has to make an impact in this game or Cincinnati will have absolutely no chance of winning. Both players possess a great presence and have an opportunity to play at the next level.

For my NCAAB pick, I look for Cincinnati to keep this game close with the help of Evans and Washington as this game should go down to the last few minutes.

Fairfield Stags (4-1) vs Rider Broncs (3-2)

The Fairfield Stags are not used to getting off to fast starts, but this season, they've excelled. Oddsmakers aren't convinced of the Stags renaissance as Fairfield is a 3.5 point underdog against Rider on the road. Do the Stags have the ability to win this game outright and keep their Cinderella season going?

Basketball At It's Best?

We have to remember that even though neither of these teams has played world beaters thus far this season, they can only play the teams on their schedule and both teams have been fairly successful. Fairfield is coming off of a 75-74 victory over Army while Rider broke a 2 game losing streak with a 70-67 victory over Wagner.

This game has the potential to go either way, but I feel that Fairfield is a bit more talented than the Broncs and that might win out in a game that they have to take a mere bus ride from Connecticut to New Jersey. Point being, the travel isn't rough and there will be some Fairfield supporters in the stands. The wear and tear  of travel aren't that great for Fairfield tonight.

 "The Big 3"?

Nowadays, everyone is using that term and I'm using it here as Fairfield possesses two major offensive presences in Tyler Nelson (17.2 points, 3 rebounds) and Curtis Cobb (16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 44% from 3-point range). Not only that, the Stags have senior forward Amadou Sidibe (8 points, 10.4 rebounds) manning the glass. All basis appear to be covered and it reflects in the Stags record.

Sidibe has been red hot in his last 2 games, averaging 16 points and 16 rebounds per game. I don't see anyone on Rider's roster that can contend with Sidibe.

For Rider, senior forward Kahlil Thomas is the go-to guy as he will deal with Sidibe. For the season, Thomas is averaging a near double-double and in his last 2 games, is averaging 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. On paper, I give Fairfield the slight edge and they're a bit more talented than Rider. Look for the mini-upset.
