The North Dakota State Bison (20-7 SU, 8-6 ATS away) of The Summit League will be on the road this evening to face the Akron Zips (21-4 SU, 6-4 ATS home) of the Mid-American Conference, with tip of scheduled for 7:00 PM EST from the James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron, Ohio.

Akron is listed as -7 point home favorites on the college basketball odds boards, which is expected, giving their current 17-game winning streak that also includes a perfect 13-0 mark on their home court.

Offensively, Akron is shooting 46.1% from the floor, which is translating into an average of 73.6 points per game, but at home their average increases slightly to 75.5 a game.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Zips are giving up fewer than 62 points per game (61.5), which ranks 61st in the nation, but at home they are much better, as the average drops to 59.8 points per game.

The Zips are also producing well for us sports bettors, as they are a very impressive 25-6 ATS in their last 31 games played at home and 43-20-1 ATS in their last 64 games overall.

Akron is also producing well when facing nonconference opponents, going 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 matchups.

Meanwhile, North Dakota State has been a poor team covering the point spread as of late. In fact, they are 0-4 ATS in their last four games played on the road and 2-5 ATS following a game where they earned a straight up win.

However, the Bison feature and offense that is shooting a stellar 47.5% from the field, which comes in at 23rd best in the land. When playing on the road, their offense averages nearly 63 points per game (62.8)

Their defense is among the best in the country, as they are holding opponents to an average of 54.9 points per game, which ranks 6th best in the county. However, when paying on the road that number shoots up a bit to 59.1 points per contest.

When we take a look at the total, which is coming it at just 124 points, it makes sense to anticipate a low scoring contest.

North Dakota is under 16 of their last 21 games overall and 21 of 26 on the road. Additionally, they are under in six of eight versus nonconference opponents.

Akron is under in ten of their last 14 games overall, which includes six of their last eight at home.

The Pick

At first look, one might think this game could go either way, as both teams seem evenly matched, but Akron has proved to be unstoppable on their home court both straight up and against the spread. For this reason I am laying the chalk with the Zips to win and cover as my NCAA Basketball pick of the day.
