NACC Action - Tar Heels vs. Tigers
The Battle will take place at the Littlejohn Coliseum in South Carolina. Tip off is set to come at 7:00 PM EST and will be broadcasted live on national television with coverage provided by ESPN.
Tensions are sure to be high throughout all forty minutes of this rivalry contest, as both teams will be playing hard to earn the win, but picking the right side on the college basketball odds board is what counts the most us bettors in this matchup.
Sportsbooks such as Bookmaker have listed the road team Tar Heels as the favorite in the NCAAB odds for this one by -3 ½ points, while posting a total of 132 ½ points. North Carolina is 3-0-1 ATS in its last four games versus Clemson, while the final score has stayed under the posted total in four of the last five meetings when the Tigers are the home team in this matchup.
Even though they are playing on the road in a hostile environment, North Carolina clearly has the momentum in this matchup, as they will attempt to win their fourth consecutive game overall and their fifth straight against the spread. The Tar Heels will also strive to beat Clemson for the fifth time in as many games.
Meanwhile, Clemson has dropped two in a row SU and lost their last time out against the spread, which was a 72-59 defeat to Maryland, who was favored by -6 points. Backing Clemson after an ATS loss could turn out to be a bad decision, as the Tigers are only 3-7 ATS in their last ten games that follow a contest where they failed to cover the point spread.
However, before their recent ATS loss to Maryland, Clemson covered the point spread in three straight matchups and really gave the Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina State Wolfpack a run for their money; though they lost both games straight up, the Tigers came close, dropping both contests by a combined 3 points on their home floor. In fact, the last time Clemson suffered a defeat greater than one point at home was back in early January in a matchup against the Florida State Seminoles (71-66).
It seems as though a lot of teams have been pulling the upset when playing at home during these conference matchups, but I do not see it happening tonight for Clemson. North Carolina has beaten Clemson 14 of 15 overall and owns a staggering record of 126-20 lifetime over the Tigers and tonight they I expect both of those margins to increase.
Lay the cheap -3 ½ points with the Tar Heels tonight and you will be certain to come out on the plus side of the college basketball picks.
