This game is a “must watch” and “must bet” with the number 1 team in the land entering hostile territory.
Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 pm ET. Be there, be square, or get your DVR ready!!! This game will take place at the historic Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana and can be seen on ESPN.
No folks, Bobby Knight won’t be there, throwing a chair across the hardwood floor, but get ready!
Home court takes precedence as the Hoosiers are a 5 point betting odds favorite and the total is 143. You have to love this spread for a Michigan team that’s coming into this game with back to back 20 plus point victories and has shown pure dominance.
I think that Glenn Robinson III has earned an abbreviated title because it suits his offensive game. GR3 isn’t a player that’s going to hoist up 15 to 20 shots a game, but whatever he puts up doesn’t lack accuracy. He’s shooting an eye popping 60.1% from the field this season and has managed to come up with big buckets and big rebounds to compliment the games of Tim Hardaway Jr. and superstar, Trey Burke.
A good example of this is in Michigan’s last game in which Hardaway Jr. shot just 3 of 10 from the field for 7 points against an inferior Northwestern club. GR3 was an efficient 6 for 7 from the field and complimented Trey Burke perfectly en route to another blowout of a Big-Ten foe. Whether Hardaway Jr. plays well or not, expect the same consistent play out of the Big Dog’s son.
Michigan will need to be at their best. Indiana’s defense has held opponents to just 37.3 % shooting from the field.
The Grand Stage
If ever there were a grand stage, Assembly Hall would be it, and Trey Burke will need to give possibly the best performance of his career. Burke is the go to guy on this team and although he’s been consistently scoring around 17 to 18 point in every game, he need’s a monster game here and is quite capable of it. This is a big money player. Look for a 20-25 point game minimum out of Burke.
At 7 foot tall, there doesn’t appear to be a player on Michigan that can guard National Player of the Year candidate, Cody Zeller. Zeller has all of the tools to be an NBA superstar and a game like this is good practice for the “big leagues” not to mention, knocking off the number 1 team on your home court will bring about pandemonium and Indiana would be in the driver’s seat for a number 1 ranking.
The only issue with this is that Zeller is coming into the biggest game of the year a bit cold. Zeller managed to tag Purdue for 19 points and and 11 rebounds, but previous to that, he put up a 9 point game on 2 of 7 shooting against Michigan State and a 2 point performance on 0 of 4 shooting against Penn State. Indiana managed to win both of those games, but this is Michigan, the number 1 team in the nation.
Expect this game to go down to the wire. I expect all of the key players to step up on the grand stage. That said, 5 points are way too much to give to Michigan. This is a flat-out gift. I implore you; take the points in this blockbuster for your NCAA basketball picks.
