The 14thranked Miami FL (FL) Hurricanes (16-3, 7-0) have surpassed all expectations by leading the ACC with an undefeated inter-conference record.
Tip-off is scheduled for today at 4:00pm ET at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Miami has gained so much respect that they’re a 1.5 point NCAAB odds favorite and the total for the game is 134.5.
The Wolfpack will be without starting point guard, Lorenzo Brown , who was fitted for a walking boot. Brown suffered an ankle sprain in Tuesday’s 58-55 loss to Virginia.
Freshman, Rodney Purvis, will move to the point guard position and we’ll see a lot more inexperience with fellow freshman, Tyler Lewis, seeing a lot more “PT”. North Carolina State is a team that relies heavily on its starters, but like Duke, that will have to change. On the season, Lewis averages just 2.1 points in 9.7 minutes per game.
2-3 Since the Duke Upset
You would think that the first team to remove Duke from the rank of unbeaten would exude confidence. In N.C. State’s case, it was the highlight of their season, as they’ve fallen to 4th in the conference. This was a team that was clearly the 2nd best team in the ACC Conference at the beginning of the season.
Look for C.J. Leslie to have a big game and get N.C. State back on track. Leslie is coming off of a 20 point, 14 rebound performance against the Cavaliers. This is a big-time player playing in a huge game that could greatly boost the Wolfpack’s confidence level.
Breezing Through the ACC
Miami has clearly shown that they can beat anyone in this conference as their undefeated mark has proven. A win here could make a statement as the Canes separate themselves from the “pack”. This is a team that crushed Duke by 27 points on January 23rd. That beating alone says that they’re dangerous!
Model of Consistency
While huge performances win big games, consistency is what a team can rely upon in these types of nail-biting inter-conference matchups.
While Durand Scott and Shane Larkin can come up with the big game, they’ve proven to be inconsistent players. The one player on the Canes roster can rely on from a game to game basis is senior, Kenny Kadji.
Kadji has scored in double figures in 10 consecutive games and has only scored in single digits in 4 out of 19 games all season. This is a space-eater that will give Miami command on the boards and is an efficient shooter. Kadji is a 6 foot 11 player that can hit the 3-ball. That’s quite an asset to have on the squad and look for N.C. State to have problems dealing with Kadji.
There’s a lot of pressure on N.C. State and they’re one man down. Miami has looked unstoppable and although home court advantage can sway a game in the home team’s direction, look for the Canes to continue their spectacular play and put them on your college basketball betting ticket.
