After their loss on Wednesday to TCU, will Kansas be able to turn it around on the road tonight, or will the Sooners get the upset either SU and/or ATS? See how we lean for our college basketball picks.

NCAAB Picks: Kansas vs. Oklahoma

The Jayhawks have a tough road game this evening, as they head into Oklahoma to face the Sooners. Kansas may be the 5th ranked team in the country, but on the road tonight, the NCAAB Odds have them favored only by -3, with a total of 133 points.

Tough loss

It’s hard to comeback from tough losses. We all – as bettors – have had some bad nights in our past, and the Jayhawks had one against TCU this past Wednesday. The Horned Frogs held Kansas to 29% shooting from the floor and 13 % from three-point land. Kansas came into that game favored by -16 and lost outright, making this year of college basketball that much more unpredictable.

In tonight’s game, the Jayhawks will surely want to get things going a lot faster than there last game. Establishing a rhythm on the road is essential. Bill Self’s team will try and start fast and dictate the pace of the game from the outset. Against the Sooner, I expect heavy ball pressure all night, as well as strong pressure defense in the half court

Sooner better than later

Oklahoma has been up and down this season in the Big 12 and they still haven’t beaten a big name team to give them some recognition. They already lost to then #3 Kansas this season in Kansas 67-54, and that is just one of their four losses to Top 25 teams. This may be one of the last times they have to impress anyone if they want to get into the tournament.

Romero Osby leads the Sooners this season as he is averaging 13 points per game. The senior forward from Mississippi will need to bring his A-game and then some if they want to beat the Jayhawks this afternoon. Keeping Jeff Withey out of the paint is going to be a team effort for the Sooners, and Osby is one of the bigger bodies for Oklahoma. Kansas is one of the nation’s leading rebounding teams, but Oklahoma is also very good boarding. If Osby and company can out rebound the Jayhawks; they could very well win this one outright.

The Sharp Pick

Kansas has been dominant ATS against the Sooners over the years. Including once already this season just a few weeks ago, Kansas has covered three in a row against the Sooners and in six of their last ten against them overall. Oklahoma is 0-5 SU on their last five games against Kansas, and only 1-4 SU against them when playing in Oklahoma.

For tonight’s game, as much as I want to bet the spread, I have to lay off it for my basketball pick. The Jayhawks could either blow this one, or blow out the Sooners. However, I do like the total of 133. Kansas’ offense has been erratic lately, and against a Big 12 opponent, I think the under is the play, Defense will be the name of the game for Bill Self, and likely the Sooners as well. I think both teams stay in the high 50s and low 60s for this game, so take the under.
