The Hawkeyes have been struggling but they played Indiana tough last time. Can Iowa thwart Indiana's hope of being the sole champion, or will Indiana continue to prove themselves?

NCAA basketball odds makers have made the Iowa Hawkeyes a solid -4 favorite like at Bookmaker -110. For my NCAA basketball pick tonight I will back Iowa minus the points as they matchup very well with Indiana and their home court advantage should make the difference.

Indiana Hoosiers
Indiana averages 82.9 points per game and ranks first and second in the country in shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. What a difference a year makes and head coach Tom Crean has done a really nice job with this club on both sides of the floor. Although they still have a ways to go defensively they have played better for the most part on that side of the ball. They still put a premium on offense though and rank third, sixth, and eighth in the country in overall, three, and two point shooting percentage respectively. Statistically their game last time against Iowa was ridiculously close. Both teams went 29-63 from the field shooting 46%, shot 36 and 38% from beyond the arc, 35-39 comparison in total rebounds, 18-18 on personal files, and 9-11 on turnovers. I don't think I've seen a game this year where the statistics compare as evenly as when these two teams met up last. Tonight however Indiana is in a tough spot against a team playing their final home game, and primed for a letdown after clinching a share of the league championship.

Iowa Hawkeyes
The Hawkeyes average 78.8 points per game highlighted by shooting 38.5% from beyond the arc, but they have lost three games in a row.  Iowa has had a rough go of it recently but I fully expect them to come out of it at home tonight and cover the small spread. This is a much better team than how they have performed their last three games which included their first home loss of the season to a resurgent Wisconsin team. I like how they match up with Indiana and statistically they can flat out score especially at home where they average just under 82 points per game. Where they should be able to have some success tonight is beyond the arc.  While the Hoosiers rank 6th in the country from distance Iowa allows opponents to shoot just 30.3% from distance which ranks them 12th in NCAA basketball. Conversely the Hawkeyes shoot 38.5% from beyond the arc while Indiana ranks in the middle of NCAA hoops defending from distance.
