The Indiana Hoosiers are pacing the nation on the boards, which could play a key role in their matchup against the Syracuse Orange Tuesday night. Let’s take a closer look at the college basketball odds for this Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

On the road

Indiana has compiled a solid 12-8 SU record on the road since the 2011-12 campaign, as it seeks to gain revenge from a 61-50 setback to Syracuse as five-point neutral-site favorites in NCAA basketaball odds at last year’s NCAA Tournament.

The Hoosiers are 7-6 SU and 9-4 ATS as an underdog the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 9-4 in that situation.

Back on the mainland

Syracuse posted a 3-0 SUATS record in capturing the EA Sports Maui Invitational, which included a 74-67 victory over the Baylor Bears as four-point neutral-site favorites in the championship game last Wednesday.

The Orange averaged 80.3 points in those three victories over the Bears, California and Minnesota, while the OVER went 2-0-1.

Banging the boards

College basketball handicappers will find that the Hoosiers are leading the nation in averaging 50.3 rebounds per game, which has led to a +18.0 in rebounding margin.

Indiana will rely heavily on freshman forward Noah Vonleh to keep those numbers intact, as he’s averaging 12.9 points and leads the Big Ten Conference in grabbing 10.4 boards per game.

Quite an atmosphere

The Orange have four players averaging in double figures offensively, with senior forward C.J. Fair leading the way at 18.0 points per game, as he tries to lead the program to its 38th consecutive home win over an unranked opponent.

Syracuse has compiled a 40-2 SU and 19-16 ATS record at this venue since the 2011-12 campaign, with the UNDER going 17-11 in that situation.

I’m going to recommend that readers add the Hoosiers to their NCAA basketball picks, as they attempt to gain revenge from last year’s 61-50 defeat to the Orange as five-point favorites in last year’s NCAA Tournament.
