We look at how the Top 25 teams in NCAAB have performed ATS as of late to determine who to back and who to fade with our NCAA Basketball picks.
The following table contains the SU and ATS records of the Top 25 teams in NCAA Basketball according to AP.
Based on this information, the Top 25 teams with the best ATS records this season are: Michigan State (16-9), Kansas (15-8), West Virginia (14-8), Miami (14-9) and Xavier (15-10).
The ranked teams that have poor ATS records and that we should avoid when placing NCAA Basketball picks are: Baylor (6-12-1), North Carolina (9-15-1) and Oklahoma (10-12).
Here are the top three ATS teams and the bottom three ATS teams among the Top 25 in the nation according to their recent results.
No. 2 Kansas (15-8 ATS)
The Kansas Jayhawks are the hottest ranked team in the nation, going 6-0 SU and ATS in their last six games. Their next game is against the Kansas State Wildcats, who have lost three of their last four games, including one against Kansas, so back the Jayhawks to beat the NCAA Basketball odds this week.
No. 9 Michigan State (16-9 ATS)
The Michigan State Spartans are 5-1 SU and 6-0 ATS in their last six games. Michigan State visits Wisconsin on Wednesday. The Badgers allow 69.7 points per game but they're 7-0 SU and ATS over their last seven games, so it's hard to understand why they're not a Top 25 team.
No. 10 West Virginia (14-8 ATS)
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 3-1 SU and ATS over their last four games. As of this writing, they're playing the Texas Longhorns and they host No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday. Keep in mind that Oklahoma is 0-3 ATS in their last three games.
No. 21 Baylor (5-11-1 ATS)
The Baylor Bears are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games, with three of four SU losses. Their schedule for the rest of the week is not easy, as it includes games against No. 13 Iowa State (18-7) and at No. 24 Texas. Don't bet on the Bears at online sportsbooks like 5Dimes.
No. 9 North Carolina (8-14-1 ATS)
The North Carolina Tar Heels might be ranked No. 5 in the nation but they have cost bettors money, going 2-6 ATS in their last eight games. The Tar Heels play the No. 20 Blue Devils (19-6) at home tomorrow before hosting the No. 11 Miami Hurricanes (20-4) on Saturday.
No. 3 Oklahoma (10-11 ATS)
The No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games despite winning five of their last seven games straight up. Oklahoma visits Texas Tech (15-9) before hosting No. 10 West Virginia (20-5) next Saturday. As mentioned above, the Sooners haven't covered the spread in their last three games.
