NIT continues when the Gamecocks take on Georgia Tech. NCAA basketball odds makers have made South Carolina a home favorite in this matchup, but did they make the line too high.

NCAA Odds makers have come out making South Carolina a -4 favorite like at Pinnacle Sports -106.  For one of my NCAA Basketball picks, I will back the Gamecocks at home to handle business against Georgia Tech.  South Carolina is 16-2 at home this season. Remember to keep checking all the NCAA Basketball betting lines for this game before you place your bet.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech has won seven of their last 10 games and rank 19th in the country allowing just 5.7 three pointers per game.  They played extremely well against Houston and have some decent statistics overall ranking 40th in the country in rebounds per game and 37th in opponent three point shooting percentage.  After that though they drop off quite significantly across the board and rank in the bottom half of all NCAA teams in opponent shooting percentage and offensively only average 5.9 three pointers per game.  Their best statistic overall  is that they allow opponents just 31.6 rebounds per game which ranks 20th in the country but the issue for me is that their stats don’t hold up that great on the road.  Rebounding wise they are still formidable but their shooting percentage drops from around 47% at home to 42% on the road and their opponents shooting percentage goes from 42% at home to 46% when they travel.  South Carolina is extremely good at home and I don’t anticipate for the Yellow Jackets to have the same amount of success as they did last week.

South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina ranks 12th and 17th in the country defensively in opponent two point and overall shooting percentage respectively.  They also match up well with one of Georgia Tech’s strengths which is their overall rebounding.  Although the Yellow Jackets rank as one of the better teams in the country in opponent total rebounds per game, as mentioned, the Gamecocks average almost 41 boards per game which ranks them 13th in the country.  This is exactly what I would expect from a Frank Martin team, hard-nosed defense and tough on the glass.  Offensively there is not a lot to get excited about but at home their shooting percentages jump up from 33% on the road to over 38% from distance and their average scoring margin from under +2 to over +11 at home.  Defensively they are going to give Georgia Tech a lot of trouble tonight and being at home should be the difference as I anticipate them to win this game by close to double digits.
