NCAA Basketball Odds Overview
NCAA basketball odds have come out with Kansas a -6.5 -110 favorite like at Heritage. This has put some value, though, on Oklahoma in my opinion, and although they have an almost impossible task of beating the Jayhawks at home, I do like them to take this game to the buzzer, so for my NCAA basketball pick today, I will back the Sooners plus the points.

Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma is averaging 87 points per game while shooting 48.1% from the field, and allowing 67.5 points per game on 37% shooting from the field. I mentioned on Saturday how much I like Lon Kruger as a head coach and mentioned that it seemed this year his team was playing some defense. That wasn't the case against Iowa State as the Cyclones gashed them for 83 points off of 51.5% shooting from the field and 43.8% from distance. I was pretty high on Oklahoma going into that Saturday game, but after watching them against a good scoring team, they definitely still have some work on the defensive end. Offensively, they have been excellent this season and were outstanding in the second half against Iowa State going for 50 points, but they only shot 42.7% from the field and under 40% from distance the entire game, both well below their season average. What I did like, though, was how they fought back in the second half, and considering they were probably looking ahead to this game just a touch, that shows some resolve. I anticipate they will be able to score with the Jayhawks to stay within the number.

Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas comes in averaging 85.4 points per game while shooting 50.3% from the field, and allowing 64.4 points per game on 39.6% shooting from the field. Bill Self is probably my favorite college coach and the Jayhawks have been playing great basketball the past month, Saturday they absolutely throttled Baylor to open Big 12 play. Although I am a big fan of Self matchup wise, I like how Oklahoma matches up with them, especially at the guards, although the main issue will be trying to win at Allen Field House which is, as mentioned, almost impossible. Last year they beat the Sooners at home by seven and most of that Oklahoma team is back. With that experience, I expect them to come in with a lot of confidence. Offensively, Kansas has been outstanding from beyond the arc shooting 45.2% per game which ranks third in the county. They have also been extremely efficient ranking seventh in shooting efficiency and ninth in effective field goal percentage. Defensively, they have also been solid ranking in better part of the country in opponent effective field goal percentage and overall shooting percentage. Tonight they will have their hands full versus an Oklahoma team that is really talented and can flat out score.

This game should come down to the wire between two of the best teams in the country. For one of your NCAA basketball picks, I recommend backing the Sooners getting what I feel is too many points. This game has all the makings of a classic and should come down to the final shot.
