Georgetown Hoyas are known for their easy early season schedule, but things have changed as they face the #3 team Maryland Terrapins. Let's choose a side for our NCAA Basketball picks.

Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EST tonight at XFINITY Center in College Park, Maryland. This game can be seen on ESPN 2 . According to the NCAA Basketball odds, Maryland is an 8 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 135.

Both teams are excited about the revival of this rivalry as they're located very close to each other geographically. While Maryland had an easy time with Mount St. Mary's in an 80-56 victory, Georgetown lost their season opener to Radford in double overtime, 82-80. Losing to a much inferior squad in the first game of the season is a major blow, but Georgetown needs to put it past them, as a win here would definitely make up for the loss to Radford.

D'vauntes Smith- Rivera
The one positive that can be taken away from this game is that seniors, Bradley Hayes and D'vauntes Smith- Rivera played rather well as Hayes led the way with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Smith- Rivera chipped in with 15 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

I have seen a ton of D'vauntes Smith-Rivera, and when this kid get's hot, he's capable of going for 30 points and leading his team, and the Maryland defense must focus on him as he has the ability to play at the next level. I look for Smith- Rivera to have a big game against the Terps, as he has a tremendous amount of experience of playing the best teams in college basketball and delivering.

Freshman, Jesse Govan, also got a taste of basketball on the collegiate level and the freshman delivered double figure points. He's a great addition to this team as the 67th ranked recruit, according to ESPN, as he has great size at 6 foot 10 , 263 pounds.

Diamond Stone
Speaking of freshman, Maryland's top recruit, #6 according to ESPN, 6 foot 11, 255 pound center, Diamond Stone also got a taste of college basketball, and he produced in limited minutes on a Maryland team that makes frequent substitutions. Stone had 10 points and 7 rebounds in just 19 minutes in the win over Mount St. Mary's. It will be interesting to see how he and Govan, who less is expected from deal, fare as this is big-time, high level basketball.

Sizzling Sophomore
Stone won't have all of the pressure on him as senior Jake Layman and sophomore, Melo Trimble, have the experience to help Stone fit in on a championship contending team.

Both Layman and Trimble played rather well in the season opener and the Terrapins have a very deep squad. That said, Trimble had a monster freshman season, averaging 16.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3 assists, while shooting over 40% from 3 point range. Expect a huge season out of Trimble and test #1 comes tonight as the Terrapins face the likes of D'vauntes Smith- Rivera. This should be a highly contested game.

For your NCAA Basketball picks, look for Georgetown to come back strong in this game after such an embarrassing loss in their opener.
