VCU has one of the more intimidating home-court advantages in the country, which makes it worth backing as a favorite against George Washington Tuesday.

George Washington has won four games in a row, which is important to consider when making your NCAA basketball picks, as it hits the road after earning a 74-59 victory over Duquesne as 14-point home favorites last Saturday.

The Colonials and Rams were picked second and first respectively in the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason poll, as they enter this high-profile matchup with a combined 15 consecutive victories.

In its last two affairs, the program has combined to shoot 52 percent from the field, including 16-of-34 behind the arc.

Since the start of the 2012-13 campaign, the Colonials are 1-5 SU and 4-2 ATS as road underdogs of 6.5 to 9 points.

Dominant Stretch
VCU has trailed a total of 53:18 over the course of its 11-game winning streak, which can’t be ignored when looking over the NCAA basketball odds, as it looks to improve to 7-1 SU in this series.

The Rams have won their two meetings against the Colonials at the Siegel Center by an average of 22 points—scoring 176 combined points in that situation.

Offensively, the squad presents a major challenge for its Tuesday night opponent, as it ranks second in the conference in scoring and three-pointers made.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the Rams are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS as home favorites of 6.5 to 9 points.

Key Areas
The Colonials rank 30th in the country in allowing just 59.3 points per game, which is helped by pacing the Atlantic 10 with a +5.5 rebounding margin. George Washington is one of 14 teams that have not allowed more than 75 points in a game during the 2014-15 campaign, but it faces a foe that averages 81.9 points on this floor.

Causing Havoc
The Rams sit behind just two teams nationally in averaging 17.6 turnovers forced per game, while leading all comers in that category the previous three years.

VCU has put together a perfect 13-0 SU record when holding opponents under 70 points this year, which fits nicely with George Washington averaging just 58.6 points in true road games.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Rams as one of their main basketball selections, as the favorite has covered the number in five of the last six installments of this series.
