The Wisconsin Badgers have built a reputation over the years as one of the best home teams in the country, as they prepare to take on the Florida Gators Tuesday night. Have we found any edge worth taking advantage of with our NCAA Basketball picks tonight?

Let’s take a closer look at the NCAA basketball odds for this non-conference matchup at the Kohl Center, with the opening tipoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

A new look

The Florida Gators are replacing its three leading scorers from a year ago, while also making due without the services of three players that have been suspended indefinitely due to violating team rules.

The Gators were second nationally in terms of scoring margin during the 2012-13 campaign, but will likely fall to the middle of the pack this season.

Starting off on the right foot

Wisconsin picked up a solid 86-75 victory over St. John’s as 4.5-point neutral-site favorites last Friday, with junior guard Josh Gasser leading a group of five players in double figures in scoring 19 points.

The Badgers return two starters from last season, while also welcoming back three other veterans who averaged at least 10 minutes per game a year ago.

Gasser is also a bit of a new addition due to missing all of last season with a knee injury after starting all 36 games in 2011-12.

Tough spot

College basketball handicappers are going to have a hard time backing the Gators, especially since last year’s talented crew dropped both of its games away from home against ranked competition.

Florida coach Billy Donovan is fully aware of how tough it is to beat Wisconsin on this floor, as Tuesday’s opponent is 11-3 at this venue against top-15 teams the previous four seasons.

The Badgers allowed the Gators to shoot 61.9 percent in last year’s 74-56 defeat as six-point road underdogs, which was the second-worst defensive performance in that category during the Bo Ryan era.

Wisconsin is 90-7 SU in non-conference home games under his direction, while winning 30 of 41 games versus ranked opponents at this facility.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Badgers with their NCAA Basketball picks, as they’ve won 90 of their last 91 games when outshooting their opponent from the field.
