The Florida State Seminoles and North Carolina Tar Heels fell short of the betting total in both regular-season meetings this year, but things may be different at the Greensboro Coliseum Friday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the basketball betting odds for this Atlantic Coast Conference tournament matchup, with the opening tip scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Tomahawk chop
Florida State has won three consecutive games, including a 73-69 victory over the Clemson Tigers as two-point favorites Thursday night, while going OVER the total for the first time in four contests.
The Seminoles are 12-5 straight up (SU) and 13-4 against the spread (ATS) in March the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 10-7 in that situation.
Streak halted
North Carolina had its six-game winning streak snapped last Saturday, as it suffered a 69-53 blowout loss to the Duke Blue Devils as two-point home favorites, while going UNDER the total for the sixth consecutive time.
The Tar Heels are 9-2 SUATS off a loss against a conference rival since the start of the 2010-11 campaign, with the UNDER going 6-4-1 in those 11 opportunities.
Neutral site run
College basketball handicappers need to respect the Seminoles as eight-point underdogs in this spot, considering they’ve covered their last five games on a neutral floor, while each of those games climbed OVER the posted total.
Over the last two-plus seasons, Florida State has compiled a money-making 13-6 SUATS record, which is nearly the exact opposite of North Carolina’s 9-13 ATS mark in that role.

Success in the ACC Tournament
The Tar Heels haven’t been the No. 3 seed in the ACC Basketball Tournament since 1999, but they’ve tallied an impressive 88-41 all-time record in this event, which is the second-best mark behind only Duke (91-40).
North Carolina will try to improve to 15-5 versus Florida State during the Roy Williams era, but the underdog has covered the number in four of the last five meetings.
I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their NCAA basketball picks, as the Tar Heels have had their way offensively in the regular season against the Seminoles despite the first two meetings going UNDER the total.
North Carolina shot 55.4 percent in the last meeting in Chapel Hill, which was its best performance from the field in ACC play, while Florida State has been known to playing higher-scoring games away from Tallahassee.
