The No. 2 Duke Blue Devils have won six straight games, but came away with a 0-2 ATS mark in their latest pair of affairs. Saturday’s basketball betting has “Coach K” and his squad visiting Maryland.

Saturday ACC Action

Who have been held to 66.4 PPG in their last five home dates.

Will Duke remain overvalued, or will Maryland struggle again in this spot?

Blue Devils, Cook surge past UNC

Duke’s latest victory came with Wednesday’s 73-68 triumph over the North Carolina Tar Heels, while failing to cash as 10 ½-point home ‘chalk.’  The Blue Devils trailed by double digits in the first half, rallying to finish with 44.6 percent field shooting.

Blue Devils guard Quinn Cook logged a team-high 18 points, while adding four of his squad’s six steals. Duke’s Mason Plumlee came away with his second straight double-double, notching 19 points and 10 boards.

The battle’s combined 141 points dipped beneath the ‘total’ of 151 ½, making the UNDER 3-1 in the Blue Devils’ last four games. Cook sank 6-of-6 free throws, while Duke outrebounded the Tar Heels, 37-36.

Terrapins, Wells fall to Virginia

Maryland logged its third loss in five games with Sunday’s 80-69 defeat as a 2 ½-point NCAAB odds favorite against the Virginia Cavaliers. The Terrapins allowed Virginia to connect from the floor at a 54.2 percent clip, including an 11-for-19 mark from three-point land.

Terrapins mates Dezmine Wells and Seth Allen united to notch 24 points, with Allen adding a team-high five assists. Maryland’s Alex Len notched seven boards, while logging five of his side’s six blocks.

The contest’s combined 149 points soared above the ‘total’ of 115 ½, lifting the OVER to 4-1 in the Terrapins’ last five duels. Maryland hit a subpar 10-of-18 from the foul line, while freshman Jake Layman was held to a 1-for-7 day of field shooting.

Back the Terps as home dogs opened Duke as a 5 ½-point road favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at 139. Early wagers on Maryland and the OVER shifted the numbers to five and 140, respectively.

I am tailing the initial ‘steam’ here, backing Maryland as part of Saturday’s sports picks. The Terrapins catch Duke off an emotional comeback win, while looking for revenge at home after last month’s 84-64 road loss to the Blue Devils.

Maryland ran into some hot shooting from Duke in January’s setback, having no answer for an 11-for-22 night from three-point land in Durham. The shift to College Park should give the Terrapins their share of chances to answer back with 50.2 percent field shooting over the team’s home spots this year.

Maryland has a 10-4 spread record in its last 14 spots that followed a defeat, with an 8-1-1 ATS mark in its last 10 games that came after a double-digit home loss. Duke’s recent victories have overvalued Cook and Co., with the team’s backers going 2-5 ATS in matchups after their most recent seven wins.

Look for Duke to be held to some lower numbers here, while the Terrapins get the money down the stretch for our basketball picks.
