#2 Duke vs. #7 Creighton
As the #2 seed, the Blue Devils are the favorites. They're favored by five points wherever you look.
The O/U had not been posted at time of this writing, though you can expect a pretty high number given that these two teams are both highly capable on the offensive end.
Duke Blue Devils
It wasn't a totally dominant performance from the Blue Devils in the opening round, but they did what they needed to do in a 73-61 win over Albany.
On a day when the likes of Ryan Kelly, Quinn Cook and Rasheed Sulaimon were struggling to get going offensively, Seth Curry and Mason Plumlee more than made up for it.
Curry hit 10-of-14 from the floor for 26 points and added six rebounds and two steals, while Plumlee went for 23 points and eight boards.
Despite the win, the Blue Devils fell quite short of covering as 18-point favorites on the NCAA basketball odds board. They've now gone 2-4 ATS over their last six and 4-6 ATS over their last ten overall.
Duke didn't steamroll over Albany like many expected them to do and Coach K's boys aren't going to take anyone lightly. With so many upsets taking place in the first round already, the Blue Devils know they can't afford to drop their intensity even the slightest amount.
The Bluejays have been rolling since a road loss to St. Mary's in late February, winning six in a row both straight up and against the spread.
In their first-round matchup with Cincinnati, Creighton got 27 points and 11 rebounds out of McDermott, leading to a 67-63 victory. McDermott hit 7-of-15 from the floor and was a perfect 11-of-11 from the line.
Gregory Echenique (13 points and seven boards) and Ethan Wragge (12 points on 4-of-5 FG) also made their contributions, but it was another vintage scoring display from the ultra-efficient McDermott.
Creighton is one of the few teams that can match Duke in the three-point shooting department, meaning we should be in for some fireworks on Sunday night. This season the Bluejays were good for 75.1 PPG, 50.6 percent shooting and 42.2 percent from three.
McDermott is going to get his regardless, so it might come down to his supporting cast against Coach K's crew.
College Basketball Pick
As we said, the Bluejays have cashed in six straight games, but we see that streak crashing to a halt against Duke.
It seems a Creighton upset in this spot has been a popular pick. However, the Blue Devils have more than enough firepower to keep pace with McDermott and his master shooting skills. Curry has been lights out all season long, and Kelly, Sulaimon and Cook can all get hot at any given moment too.
So while we figure McDermott is going to make his fair share of shots, we can't help but think the Blue Devils find a way to win and also get a cover. Duke is miles above Cincinnati's level and the Bluejays are going to find that out quickly.
