The Buffaloes have bounced back nicely after losing their opener, winning two games in a row. Today they're huge favorites on the NCAA basketball odds board versus Omaha.

Odds Overview
The Buffaloes are favored by 18 points at a lot of the top online sportsbooks, as they're the more talented team overall, and their one loss came against a very good Iowa State team. Some sites have a NCAA Basketball Odds number of 17.5 available if you want to back Colorado and want the best number you can find.

A total of 160 suggests we're going to be in for an up-tempo matchup with a lot of points on the board. There will be a lot of talent on that court, and both teams like to get up and down, so we're not surprised by the number.

Colorado Buffaloes
The Buffaloes have opened with a 2-1 record. They began the season with a 68-62 loss to an Iowa State team that's very talented, so we're not going to look too much into that defeat. The bounce-back situation that presented itself was passed with flying colors from Colorado, who picked up consecutive wins over Auburn (on the road) and Portland (at home).

It's still an early sample size, but George King and Josh Scott that have been doing the heavy lifting offensively. King is averaging 19.7 points and 5.3 rebounds a contest, while Scott has been good for 16.0 points and 8.3 rebounds. Scott brings the much-needed veteran leadership to the team and is going to be a huge piece of the puzzle for this team, providing he can stay healthy.

Averaging 79.3 points per game through their first three contests, we can see why oddsmakers are expecting a high-scoring game here. The Buffaloes' offense is clicking ahead of this home date with Ohama, and they'll be trying to get out to a hot start this afternoon so that they can move to cruise control.

Nebraka-Omaha Mavericks
The little-known Mavericks are also sitting at 2-1 on the season, with wins over St. Mary's (Minn) and UMKC and a close loss to UC Santa Barbara.

It was a hard-fought win over the Kangaroos in their last taste of action, with the game decided in overtime and ending in a 95-89 win for Omaha. Tre'Shawn Thurman was a total beast in the win, racking up 30 points and 11 rebounds in 37 minutes of action, and he hit countless big shots to lead the way for the Mavericks. As a team Omaha shot just 42.2 percent from the field and 5-of-19 from beyond the arc, but they won the battle on the glass and got solid play out of Jack White and Devin Patterson in the well-earned victory.

So now the level of competition raises even further, with the Mavericks now having to do battle with the Buffaloes, who have way more talent than the teams they've played thus far. The odds reflect that disparity, but Omaha should relish this challenge of playing a big program on their own court, with absolutely nothing to lose either.

NCAA Basketball Pick
The Buffaloes are the well-recognized team on this occasion, but we actually think the Mavericks have a good chance of at least staying close.

With our college basketball picks, we're going to back the underdogs this early in the season, as Purdue tries to get their feet under them and find their stride.

We like what we've seen out of Omaha in the early goings, and they're getting production out of a few different areas, which has helped them to a couple hard-fought wins already this season. Back the Mavericks to avoid a total blowout in this matchup with your NCAA Basketball Picks.
