The Maryland Terrapins and Notre Dame Fighting Irish are both looking to get back into the win column, as the two teams prepare to face off Wednesday night. Let’s take a closer look at the NCAA basketball lines for this ACC match-up.

Needing a win

Notre Dame has dropped two games in a row since its upset victory over the Duke Blue Devils, including a 74-69 setback to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as one-point road favorites last Saturday.

The Fighting Irish are 9-6 SU and 7-8 ATS off a loss against a conference rival the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 7-6 in that situation.

Drilled on the road

Maryland returns home after getting swept on its two-game road trip against conference rivals—falling short in those affairs by a combined 44 points.

The Terrapins are 9-10 SU all-time in this series, including a 4-3 mark when playing in front of their fans.

It’s important to point out that the program is 3-0 SU and 2-0-1 ATS as 3.5 to 6 point home favorites in the NCAA basketball odds                                      since the start of the 2011-12 campaign.

College basketball handicappers will have an interest backing the road underdog in this affair, considering Fighting Irish senior point guard Eric Atkins is averaging 18.5 points over his last five games.

Notre Dame has had to reinvent itself offensively since the suspension of Jerian Grant due to academics, as he was one of the best three-point shooters in the country.

The team is shooting just 31.7 percent from beyond the arc in ACC play, but Maryland allows foes to connect on 38.1 percent of its attempts from that area.

There’s no place like home

The Terrapins are 8-3 SU in their last 11 conference home games, with the victories coming by an average margin of 13.5 points.

Maryland has five players averaging double-figure scoring totals at home, with Jake Layman leading the way with 15.4 points on 50 percent shooting.

The squad has won all eight overall games when limiting foes to 70 or fewer points, while it has captured the same amount of contests when leading at the half.

I’m going to recommend the Fighting Irish as our NCAA basketball pick, as the Terrapins are knocking down just 65.9 percent of their free throws—ranking 292nd in the country in that all-important statistical category down the stretch.
