For NCAA basketball Tuesday we have a classic tough spot game for the UCLA Bruins. UCLA just pulled a nice upset at Gonzaga and they have North Carolina up next. Today, though, they face a very underrated Louisiana Lafayette team and are giving away just too many points. This Ragin Cajuns have had a rough time on the road this season but the catch UCLA in a good spot and this team can flat out score.

NCAA Odds Overview
NCAA Basketball odds have come out with Louisiana Lafayette a +11 -105 underdog like at Heritage. This is a very interesting line considering the fact they have lost by more than this number three times this year and by this number to a subpar Louisiana Monroe team. For my NCAA pick of the day though, and actually the week, I really like them in this spot to hang in with the Bruins and lose by single digits.

Louisiana Lafayette
The Ragin Cajuns are averaging 83.2 points per game, while shooting 44.6% from the field, and allowing 86.8 points per game on 48.3% shooting from the field. At 3-4 this is a team that is really underachieved, considering they were picked to win the Sun Belt Conference this season. Offensively, they have been excellent and they have played decently well most of season against some pretty tough competition. In their last game against a solid Louisiana Tech team, they were up at half only to give up 58 points in the second half to end up losing by 12.  With three guys averaging double digits, and three more averaging eight or more, this team is decently deep and should be fine when conference play starts. Offensively, they have not shot the three particularly well, but with Shawn Long averaging a double double, they have been tough in the paint and the interior shooting 53.6% on their two point shots. They love to push tempo and average 67.2 field goal attempts per game, which ranks sixth in the country. The issue for them has been on the defensive end where they have some of the worst statistics in the country and rank in the very bottom in scoring defense. Tonight, though, I think they catch UCLA in the perfect spot, a little full of themselves with the win at Gonzaga and looking forward to UNC.

UCLA Bruins
UCLA  is averaging 79.5 points per game, while shooting 46.5% from the field, and allowing 74.5 points per game on 40.8% shooting from the field. With big wins over Kentucky and Gonzaga these past couple weeks in a four game win streak, things are looking up for UCLA. They have five guys averaging double digits led by Bryce Alford at 15.9 points per game, but after that, they are not very deep which could be trouble tonight against a team that likes to make you get up and down the floor. Offensively, the Bruins are well rounded and pretty efficient with some of their better statistics coming inside the paint. They rebound well, ranking 32nd in the country in total rebounds per game and average 29.1 field goals per game which ranks 33rd. Defensively, they have been less than stellar, but have played well against some stiff competition holding Kentucky and Gonzaga to just 38% and 41% shooting from the field respectively.

I have to come back to the line on this game. With UCLA beating top ranked Kentucky at home by 10 and then odds makers setting this game against 3-4 Louisiana Lafayette at 11 really gets my radar up. With a little digging, though, it starts to make sense, and for one of your NCAA Basketball picks, I recommend backing an underrated Ragin Cajun squad to keep this game a lot closer than people anticipate.
