NCAA Odds Overview
NCAA basketball odds have come out with LSU a +5.5 underdog like at BetOnline. This is a pretty decent Tigers team who will have the best player on the floor, and for my NCAA basketball picks, I will back them getting the points to possibly upset Kentucky. There are some really good matchups across the board with the lean going to the Wildcats talent wise, but being at home will give LSU a slight edge. Given that Kentucky is just a small favorite, even on the road, it might be tempting to back them in this spot over LSU.  The Wildcats though have been a bit too inconsistent and are a shadow of the team they were last year, talented yes, but just not quite as much.  LSU has also been inconsistent throughout the season so far but they have played well enough at times and have enough talent to hang around with Kentucky, especially at home.

Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky is averaging 78.5 points per game while shooting 47.3% from the field, and allowing 65.8 points per game on 40.2% shooting from the field. Once again John Calipari has a really strong team, however they are a few steps behind last year's squad. Offensively, they have been better than average with some good inside play and interior scoring averaging 54% on their two point shooting. Beyond the arc they have struggled averaging just 31.3% on the season which ranks well in the bottom part of the country. One of the issues tonight for them offensively is simply the fact they have been a little less efficient when they have had to travel, which has been rare this season. Defensively, Kentucky is a well-balanced team and has solid statistics across the board, especially their defense from beyond the arc which they allow only 4.8 threes per game ranking fourth in the country. They also have been outstanding in limiting ball movement allowing just 8.4 opponent assist per game which ranks first in the country. This will be the best defense that LSU has faced all season.

LSU Tigers
LSU is averaging 84.2 points per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, and allowing 76.6 points per game on 43.4% shooting from the field. Of course we all know about Ben Simmons but LSU is actually pretty deep this season and they really try to get out and push tempo. The Tigers average putting up 63.7 shots per game which ranks 27th in the country, and they rank 10th in the country in field goals made per game. They are similar to Kentucky in that they are way more efficient in their two point shooting than from beyond the arc averaging 31.9% per game. If they can get to the tempo that they want offensively, they should be able to score enough to take the game to the wire. Defensively, LSU definitely has their issues, however being at home and playing Kentucky should definitely up their effort on this end of the floor. Statistically they don't do anything particularly well but they do allow just 47.2% in opponent two point shooting which ranks in the better part of the country.

Until Kentucky proves that they can win handedly in its true road contest, I think it is best to fade them. For one of your NCAA basketball picks, I recommend backing LSU plus the points to possibly upset Kentucky or at least take this game to the final shot. This matchup is not quite as interesting as it was mapped out to be at the beginning of the year, nevertheless this will be a fun ballgame.
