We all know how dominant the Wildcats have been so far this season, but they'll face one of their more difficult challenges this afternoon against Louisville. How are the NCAA basketball betting odds shaping up?
As of now, NCAA basketball odds have Louisville getting as many as 6.5 points in this home encounter with Kentucky. Both teams are undefeated, but one of those spotless records will be tarnished after this afternoon's showdown is over and done with. Who's it going to be?
Of course, you could always switch it up and focus in on a total play instead. A total had yet to have been released at time of writing, so be sure to keep checking back with SBR's odds monitoring service to get a better feel for the released lines right before tipoff. It's the best way to ensure you're getting the best possible value out there.
While Kentucky (and Duke to a lesser extent) have been getting a lot of love atop the rankings, we need not forget about the Cardinals and what they've been doing early on this season too. They're unbeaten as well (11-0) and have already picked up a few hard-fought wins over quality programs in Ohio State, Minnesota and Indiana.
Montrezl Harrell has been the go-to guy for the team. He served his one-game suspension for that moment of madness against Western Kentucky, so he'll be eligible to return this afternoon and should be eager to make his presence felt. There's no better audition for improving your draft stock than doing well against the mighty Wildcats on a huge nationally televised stage. On the year, Harrell is averaging 16.7 PPG and 10.0 RPG, but it's Terry Rozier (16.7 PPG) that's been the leading scorer so far. Wayne Blackshear and Chris Jones have also been playing heavy minutes and contributing in a big way.
Armed with one of the better big men in the country, and as an elite rebounding team in the grand scheme of things, the Cardinals are going to like their chances of giving Kentucky their first loss of the season. The home-court advantage in this rivalry game is going to be formidable, as well, and is a factor that no one should take lightly.
Having already broken down the Wildcats many times before this season, we're beginning to run out of superlatives for how good they are.
So, let's keep it short and sweet. Kentucky has proven time and time again this year that they're going to be immensely difficult to contend with. Simply staying competitive with the Wildcats has been super tough in itself, let alone beating them straight up. Already this season Kentucky has beaten Kansas, Texas and North Carolina, and we all remember what they did to UCLA the last time they took the court.
Alex Poythress has been lost to injury, yet the Wildcats keep chuggling along and have looked every bit as unstoppable. Let's see if they'll have the necessary moxie to get the job done in what should be a crazy environment inside the KFC YUM! Center in Louisville.
NCAA Basketball Pick
What a game this is going to be.
The Wildcats have enjoyed one of the more dominant starts we've ever seen in the world of college basketball, and they quite rightly deserve to be getting all the hype they've been receiving. They've been exceptional, especially on the defensive end where their length has caused opponents fits.
But, there's something about this spot that we really like on Louisville's side of things. The Cardinals have a big in Harrell who has been equally as dominant this season, and they've got some serious size elsewhere too. Ranked third in the country in total rebounds per game, the Cardinals should be able to hold their own inside, which is more than a lot of other teams can say when they come up against Kentucky.
We expect one heck of a contest here, but ultimately it's going to be too hard to pass up this many points. In this heated rivalry matchup, we like Louisville as our NCAA basketball pick to cover at home, with Harrell and Rozier leading the charge.
