Seton Hall possesses one of the more experienced point guards in the country, which makes it a dangerous road underdog against Wichita State Tuesday.

Quite a Start
Seton Hall expects to get “punched in the mouth” in playing its first true road game of the 2014-15 campaign, which can’t be ignored when making your NCAA basketball picks, as it looks to improve upon its perfect 7-0 SU record. The Pirates are led by junior point guard Sterling Gibbs, who averages 17.3 points and 2.9 assists per game, while also ranking 40th in the country in knocking down 89.2 percent of his attempts from the charity stripe. Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 0-3 SU and 2-1 ATS as road underdogs of 9.5 to 12 points.

Racking Up Wins
Wichita State has proven victorious in 35 of its last 36 regular season games, which is important to consider when looking over the NCAA basketball odds, especially since it owns the highest-win percentage nationally at .834 since the start of the 2010-11 season. The Shockers have four players averaging double figures offensively, with preseason All-Americans Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet leading the way at 17.8 and 12.5 points repsectively. It’s important to point out that the squad has covered the number in its last four games against Big East Conference opponents, with the OVER going 3-1 in that situation.

Going Into the Break
The Pirates have taken a lead into halftime in every game this season, while they’ve managed to produce a 22-2 SU record when accomplishing that task since the start of last season.

Seton Hall will have a hard time continuing this trend, as Wichita State has led after 20 minutes of play in 16 straight games.

Shooting the Lights Out
The Shockers have hit 10 or more three-point shots in four-straight games, while they’ve been able to knock down 43 of their last 97 attempts (44.3%) from that particular area. Baker is the main player to handicap in that all-important statistical category, as he’s connected on 18 of his last 30 shots from beyond the arc.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Pirates as one of their top NCAA basketball picks, as they’ve gone 16-6 ATS in their last 22 road games.
