Oklahoma State (9-4 SU, 7-4 ATS lined games)
If you have been riding the Cowboys and including them in your NCAA basketball picks, then you have gotten paid over their last four lined contests. The most recent straight up and ATS cover occurred Saturday afternoon when the Cowboys, installed as 5½ point home chalk by the NCAA basketball odds makers, easily dispatched their Big 12 rivals the TCU Horned Frogs by the score of 69-48. Senior guard Jeff Newbury was immense in the second half for Oklahoma State as he scored 11 points in a row and totaled a career tying best 23 points for the game complemented by a game-high eight rebounds.

"My teammates were just finding me and giving me opportunities to score," said Newberry, who was 8-of-13 from the floor which included knocking down three of five from beyond the arc. "They were finding me in the corner and I was knocking down shots."

Defense has been the key for the Cowboys as they rank 19th in the nation in points allowed, holding opponents to only 62.3 points per game. In addition they rank 39th in blocked shots averaging 5.3 per game and have had at least one blocked shot in every game this season.

Baylor Bears (10-3 SU, 1-6 ATS lined games)
Baylor was ranked 23rd in the nation before they tangled with the top dog in college basketball on Saturday afternoon and when the dust settled it wasn’t pretty for the Bears. The Kansas Jayhawks handled the Bears with ease as they cruised to a 102-74 victory in front of the rabid fans at the Allen Fieldhouse. Losing in Lawrence, Kansas is nothing new to the Bears who have done it their last 14 trips to Jayhawk Country. However this loss proved just how far they have to go if they want to compete with the truly elite teams in the country.

Taurean Prince notched a team-high 17 points while Lester Medford bucketed 15 and senior forward Rico contributed 12 of his own. Normally scoring 74 points will at least keep you competitive but the Bears’ defense could not handle the overwhelming force that was the Kansas Jayhawks offense. Baylor was unable to keep up with the sharp-shooters of Kansas and their eight total assists paled in comparison to their best in the nation average of 22 assists per game headed into Saturday’s contest.

Betting Analysis
On November 19th the Oklahoma State Cowboys suffered a big blow when senior guard Phil Forte was sidelined with an elbow injury. Forte had been the team scoring leader averaging 13.3 points per game but has not factored into the Cowboys equation since nor will he anytime soon according to reports. Nevertheless the team has done well despite his absence. Their defense has been impressive though they could surely use his contributions offensively, averaging only 71.5 points per game.

The pundits will tell you that Okie State won’t be able to handle the high octane offense of a team like Baylor that is averaging 81.2 PPG, and while that may be true, I believe that the Cowboys defense will provide more than a few speed bumps for that high performance automobile. Those same pundits will also submit to you that Oklahoma State is 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine trips to Baylor, but I say that this Cowboys teams is grittier than most as illustrated by their having lost three of their four games by just three points or less. Oklahoma State has not been blown out this season, and I don’t see it happening here as I believe we are getting too many points to pass playing this travelin’ dog here.
