Gonzaga is off to a 4-0 start to this season, and 3-0 ATS; Georgia is off to a 3-1 start, but 1-3 ATS. In a battle of the Bulldogs Gonzaga takes on Georgia Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Zags-'Dawgs Betting Odds

In the early betting action the spread had held steady, while the total had dropped to 145. Those who believe Georgia might win this game outright could get a price of +1075 on the college basketball betting moneyline at 5Dimes.

Zags-'Dawgs: The Match-Up
Gonzaga returns three starters this season from a team that went 29-7 and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament last season. The Zags have also added transfer Byron Wesley, who averaged 18 points and six boards per game last year for USC.

Gonzaga opened this season with a 104-58 victory over Sacramento State, covering as a 23-point favorite. In fact, the Zags had that spread covered at halftime, when they led 60-26. Gonzaga then took care of Larry Brown and SMU 72-56, covering as a nine-point favorite. The Bulldogs then destroyed St. Joseph's 94-42, covering at -23, and last Saturday they beat St. Thomas Aquinas College 109-55, in a game that wasn't lined.

Sharpshooting Gonzaga shot 55 percent from the floor against the Hornets, 45 percent against the Mustangs, 57 percent against the Hawks and 68 percent against the Spartans. On the season the Zags are also shooting 43 percent from 3-point range, but strangely, just 63 percent from the free-throw line. Last time out Gonzaga started three seniors and two juniors.

Georgia returns three starters this season from a team that went 20-14 last year, 12-6 in SEC play. But even with nine wins in their last 12 games the Bulldogs missed the NCAA tournament for the third straight season.

Georgia opened this season with an 80-73 loss to Georgia Tech, but has since won three in a row. The Bulldogs beat Stony Brook 80-70 but missed on the cover as 13-point favorites. They then defeated Troy 82-60, covering at -17. And Sunday they beat Florida Atlantic 74-61, but couldn't cover at -15. UGA shot 46 percent from the floor against the Owls, and held them to 41 percent shooting, but missed eight of 24 FT attempts. Make a few more of those free throws and the Bulldogs might cover that spread. On the season Georgia is shooting just 27 percent from 3-point range and 68 percent from the line. Last time out the Bulldogs started two seniors, two juniors and a sophomore.

Some say Gonzaga will be a powerhouse this year. Do you agree?

Zags-'Dawgs: History
These two programs, separated by a whole country, don't meet very often, just four times previously. The last time they met was back in January of 2008, a 75-67 Gonzaga victory in Spokane. But the 'Dawgs covered that night as 12-point dogs.

Zags-'Dawgs Betting Trends
Gonzaga is 1-1 on the totals this season, as Zags games have averaged 148 points. Georgia is 2-1 on the totals, as Bulldogs games have averaged 145 points.

Zags-'Dawgs Free Pick
Gonzaga looks like a mid-major monster again, while Georgia is just trying to find its way back to the NCAA tournament. But the line on this game looks like it was based more on reputations than anything else. For our college basketball betting pick Ill highlight that while the Zags are likely to win this game, the Bulldogs have enough to keep it close.
