Georgia (6-5) at George Washington (11-2)
Bounce Back Game?
The George Washington Colonials look to get back on the winning track after they finished 2013 in poor fashion with a very disappointing 72-55 loss to Kansas State. The Wildcats are known for their outstanding defense and once again, they held an opponent under their seasonal point total.
George Washington could never get anything going in this game as they shot a disappointing 34% from the field. Tonight, the Colonials look to get back on track as they face a Georgia Bulldogs team who has started to win lately. Despite losing their last game to #21 Colorado, the Bulldogs have salvaged their season by winning 5 out of their last 6 games.
While leading scorers, Maurice Creek (16.1 points,45% from 3-point range) and Kethan Savage (13.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists) have been holding down the fort for the Colonials, leading rebounder, Isaiah Armwood, has been cold as ice from an offensive standpoint. In his last 4 games, Armwood has shot just 7 for 30 from the field and averaging just 5.4 points in that period of time. The Colonials need a respectable showing from Armwood as Georgia has been hot as of late.
Feeding Off Of the Weak
For Georgia, they’re coming off of an 84-70 loss to Colorado in which their defense was beaten down. The Buffaloes shot a perfect 26 of 26 from the foul line. The Bulldogs aren’t a very physical team, but are an efficient shooting team. This is a team with no definitive go to guy which has benefitted from a weak schedule as of late.
A weak schedule has definitely benefited the Bulldogs cause as their defense has been effective lately while the offense, led by sophomore guard Charles Mann, has been a bit inconsistent.
Overall, both teams have played well as of late and the betting spread appears to be too high. Despite being undefeated at home, mostly all of the trends point to the Colonials having a difficult time in this matchup, taking them out of our NCAA basketball picks.
Colonials are 2-5-1 in their last 8 games ATS at home.
Colonials are 1-6 ATS following a S.U. loss.

Drexel (7-4) at Southern Miss (12-2)
Southern Miss is another team feeding off of the weak. They have an outstanding record, but have played some very weak opponents. In their biggest matchup of the season, Louisville held the Golden Eagles to just 38 points on 28.9 % shooting from the field. Southern Miss gets a Drexel team that doesn’t have any notable victories, but have had a tough schedule, and managed to play the top ranked teams well. The Dragons lost to UCLA by just 5 points and to Arizona by just 4 points. Even though the Golden Eagles are a 7 point betting favorite in the NCAA basketball odds, this game could possibly go down to the wire or we could possibly see an upset here.
Couldn’t Hit the Side of A Barn
Drexel isn’t an overwhelming offensive team. They haven’t eclipsed the 60 point mark in their last 4 games. The Dragons feature 4 offensive threats ranging from Chris Fouch (17.1 point per game) to Tavon Allen (12.4 points per game). These key components all produce, but have one thing in common; they all shoot under 40% from the field. Thankfully for Drexel, they’re a fairly good rebounding team, but against Southern Miss on the road, they’ll need to be more efficient shooting-wise.
Look for Drexel to dominate the boards in this game, giving them many 2nd opportunities to cash in on.
Dragons are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games against a team with a home winning record.
Dragons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. loss.
Look for the Dragons to stay in this game with solid defense and controlling the boards. Southern Miss’ record is a bit deceiving.

Bet lightly here. This is a very quiet Friday and more opportunities will be available on the weekend. Good luck.
