The Kentucky Wildcats are expected to be at full strength Monday night, and the NCAA basketball odds reflect that in their battle against the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Kentucky Wildcats vs Arizona State Sun Devils

The question isn't when will the Kentucky Wildcats lose their first game. It's pretty much a given John Calipari's crew won't run the table to become the first team in 40 years to have a perfect season.

The real question is when will anyone give this year's edition of the Wildcats a game and throw a scare into them. On top of the ranks last week and likely to stay there when the new polls are released later today, Kentucky has so far cut through its schedule with ease and the sports books don't expect that trend to end this evening at the Atlantis Showcase vs. the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Week 4 of the college basketball slate tips off at 7 PM (ET) on ESPN2 from Imperial Arena in the Bahamas, and the Wildcats are expected to cruise to a 7-0 start to the campaign. 5Dimes, an A+ rated sportsbook, started off with Kentucky laying 15, that spread climbing to 16½ already. If your wager interest is on the scoreboard, 159 is the number to beat.

Perimeter Defense One Of Many UK Strengths

Kentucky's 6-0 sprint out of the gate has the look of just a half-dozen scrimmages with each victory by 21 points or more. It's easy to point to the Wildcats playing at home against the likes of Stephen F. Austin and Cleveland State, but that 21-point triumph came on a neutral floor against Michigan State, a preseason tip 10 team according to the coaches poll and a group expected to be very much in the thick of the Big Ten race.

They're coming off a 35-point rout of Tennessee-Martin last Friday, the 2nd-straight 100+ point performance for the Wildcats and 4th-straight payoff vs. the NCAA basketball odds. Just like the decision two days earlier vs. Cleveland State, Kentucky beat the Skyhawks without the services of Isaiah Briscoe, who averaged 18 PPG in the first four contests, and the sophomore guard is expected to be back on the hardwood tonight with a hip injury.

Bobby Hurley's first season at Arizona State ended poorly as the team collected just five Pac-12 wins and no postseason appearance. The Sun Devils should be better and at least make it to the NIT this time around, and Hurley did a pretty good job on the recruiting front to help rebuild the program. At 4-2 outright, ASU has failed to send its backers to the pay window the last four times on the floor, three of those neutral-site affairs like tonight's, and has four players averaging double-digits on the offensive end with a fifth just shy of the mark (freshman Sam Cunliffe, 9.8 ppg).

Sun Devils Seeking 1st Win Vs. Wildcats

There isn't a ton of series history, tonight's matchup just the fifth with Kentucky winning each of the previous four. We do have a clash from just a season ago, however, to work off, and Arizona State did manage to hang with the Wildcats early. Kentucky pulled away in the second half for the 72-58 victory, just covering a -13 line in a game that stayed 'under' 141.

The next few weeks will present some challenges for Calipari's team, a home date against UCLA this Saturday plus back-to-back matchups outside of Lexington opposite North Carolina and Louisville. Could the Wildcats be caught looking ahead tonight against Arizona State? Nah, I don't see it, but I'm staying away from the spread for my free college basketball pick and playing the 'under.'
