Despite how difficult it is to beat a team three times in one season, I’m still backing Navy in this game. The Midshipmen are one of the hottest teams in the country right now, winning seven of their last eight games to earn their place in the Patriot League Final. Navy’s only loss since Feb. 12 was by four points at Colgate.
The Eagles are on a three-game winning streak, but they haven’t won a game by more than 10 points since Feb. 15. They’ve won four of their last six, but their two losses were to Navy and Army, a team that finished just 16-15 this year.
The Eagles are a team that likes to slow the game down, as shown by them averaging only 68.5 points per game. While they’ve also held opponents to just 67.7 points per contest, their style allows teams to hang around longer than they should. I’m not overly confident in Navy on the moneyline, but they will keep this within one score.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see either of these teams win tonight, but I’m going to back the Midshipmen to get the job done. They have won five consecutive games, and they’ve already defeated American once on their home floor. While many will argue that homecourt is a huge advantage in championship games, we’ve also seen teams like Central Connecticut struggle with so much pressure on them.
This will be a close game and one that I believe will be lower scoring than the other games that these two have played in lately. While the Midshipmen have scored more than 80 points in three consecutive games, the Eagles’ defense will stifle them, resulting in a game where both teams score in the 60s.
