The last week of the regular season brings with it some big stakes, as teams try to secure NCAA tournament berths and/or good seeds for the postseason. For our free college basketball picks for Tuesday night we look to one team trying to play itself into the tournament field, and another team trying to ice down a No. 1 seed.

Aggies Battle Gators
Texas A&M, 20-8 but assured of nothing yet, visits a disappointing Florida team.

Most books we surveyed opened the 14-15 Gators as four-point favorites over the Aggies, and many books then bumped that spread to -5. That's perfectly OK with us; we have no problem betting against the flow.

The Aggies have won four of their last five games, after taking care of business at home against Auburn Saturday 80-55. A&M led by eight at the half, then pushed that lead to 25 in the second half, and covered as a 12-point favorite on the NCAA basketball odds. The Aggies shot 47 percent from the field Saturday, held the Tigers to 35 percent shooting and won the battle on the boards by a 44-29 margin.

At 11-5 in conference play Texas A&M sits in third place in the SEC. But the SEC seems a bit top-heavy this season, and the Aggies' iffy internals still have them situated on the NCAA tournament bubble.

Florida, meanwhile, is 2-6 SU over its last eight games, and 4-9 ATS over its last 13 outings, even after Saturday's 66-49 victory over Tennessee. But just before that the Gators lost at lowly Missouri 64-52, and just before that they lost at LSU 70-63.

At 7-9 in conference play Florida stands as one of the bigger disappointments of this college basketball season, and will miss the Dance for the first time since 2009.

NCAA Basketball Pick: A&M nipped Florida three weeks ago in College Station 63-62, dishing out 21 assists on 25 field goals. We can't see why the Aggies can't win tonight's game, either. So in searching for some underdog moneyline value we'll go with A&M to win this one outright, getting +190 at GT Bets.

'Cats Visit Creighton
Villanova's Wildcats, already champions of the Big East, look to hold on to their projected No. 1 seed for the upcoming NCAA tournament when they head West to take on the Bluejays in Omaha.

Most books we checked with opened this game with 'Nova favored by 10 points, then dropped that spread to 9.5.

Villanova has won 10 games in a row, after dispatching of Xavier Saturday 78-66. The Wildcats covered that game as two-point favorites on the road, and have now won 10 in a row ATS, too, five of those as double-digit favorites.

If the Big Dance began today Villanova would be a No. 1 seed. But if the 'Cats falter tonight, or in their regular-season finale against St. John's, or even in the conference tournament, they could fall from that perch. And who wants to play Kentucky before they have to?

Creighton, meanwhile, lost nine in a row a while back, and has split eight games since then, after blowing a 12-point lead and losing at Seton Hall Saturday 67-66. But the Bluejays are actually 7-4-1 ATS over their last dozen outings, perhaps because they're getting so little respect on the lines. They covered as five-point dogs at Marquette back in January, as nine-point dogs at Butler, as a home dog against St. John's, pulled an upset at Xavier, covered as a short home favorite against Marquette and as a home dog against Butler.

Saturday Creighton led almost the whole game against the Pirates, but in the end it couldn't hang on, or get the hoop to win the game in the final seconds.

At 13-16 overall the Bluejays won't be going anywhere this postseason, after making the NCAA Basketball Tournament three years in a row.

Villanova, 7-3 ATS in true road games this season, has already won 24 games by double-digits; if the 'Cats do that tonight, they'll cover again.

Villanova won the first meeting this season between these teams at home back in January 71-50, covering as a 15-point home favorite. The Wildcats grabbed a 15-0 lead out of the gate and never let Creighton back in the game. 'Nova might not win by 21 Tuesday night, but it should have room for the cover with our college basketball picks.
