We have a pretty dead on even matchup tonight between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Michigan Wolverines as both teams are fighting for their future. That said, the Golden Gophers are on a 4 game winning streak, looking to win their 20th game tonight, are playing at home, and are in a better position than Michigan in this game. This is a crucial game for Michigan.

Michigan vs Minnesota Michigan's Shining Moment

We all know about the "One Shining Moment"song that comes after an NCAA Champion is crowned and in Michigan's case, they came up with a huge shining moment that will go a long way come NCAA Tournament time with an upset victory over Wisconsin in their last game.

The Wolverines can only hope that they're be a carry over effect as this game could be the icing on their cake if they pick up the "W". Odds makers are certainly giving them the respect that they deserve after the upset win.

Michigan's path to success came through their defense as freshman D'Mitrik Trice shot a dismal 2 of 15 from the field for the Badgers and Ethan Happ was a one man show as the rest of the Wisconsin starters combined for 7 of 34 shooting from the field. Part of this was just poor shooting and the other part was due to the Michigan defense. That said, the Wolverines must do a better job of protecting the glass as they managed just 29 rebounds and that won't help them succeed against Minnesota.

 Zak Irvin

It's imperative that senior Zak Irvin step up in this game. He's been a consistent source of offense throughout his collegiate career. Lately, Irvin has been struggling mightily, but in the upset against Wisky, Irvin contributed 18 huge points to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. His play will be a key factor in this game.

The odds say it all as Michigan is the team with the inferior record and Minnesota has been playing well. Michigan is a 1 point underdog. Take the point and look for the Wolverines to continue to save their season as Minnesota hasn't defeated a legitimate contender all season long with the exception of Purdue and their recent wins have come against weak competition.
