In danger of falling below .500 in the ACC standings, Miami is favored on the NCAA basketball odds Wednesday at home against the streaking Louisville Cardinals.

Will a second trip to the Sunshine State produce the same result as the first for the Louisville Cardinals? Interim head coach David Padgett certainly hopes so as his Redbirds are riding a 4-game win streak to keep pace with Virginia atop the ACC. That streak started in Tallahassee as underdogs against Florida State, and Louisville treks a little further south to Coral Gables once again as the ‘dog against the Miami Hurricanes.

Karl Ravech and Dick Vitale will have the call on ESPN2, the tip at Watsco Center coming a tick after 8 PM (ET). The spread remains Miami -3½ at Bookmaker after overnight betting, and the early scoreboard target is 138½, up a point from the initial offer.

The Ville 5-1 ATS In ACC Action

Louisville was getting 6½ at the Seminoles two weeks ago and promptly fell behind early to take a 13-point deficit into the locker room. The Cardinals came back in the second half, however, using a 21-7 run before eventually posting the 73-69 upset to snap FSU’s 28-game home winning streak. The Cards extended the string of dubyas to four this past weekend with a 77-69 win vs. Boston College, but let a large lead in the second half dwindle to fall short of the 10-point spread, their first losing ticket in six conference games.

Miami will be looking to start a new home win streak after losing on this floor to Duke last week, 83-75. The NCAA basketball odds favored the Blue Devils, who trailed by 13 in the second half before Gary Trent Jr. went on a rampage to bring Duke back. Jim Larrañaga’s lads bounced back from that one with a road victory this past Saturday at NC State. The game closed with the ‘Canes getting 1, and they shot nearly 58% while holding the Wolfpack scoreless for about three minutes in the second half to build an insurmountable lead.

Series Trends, Final Thoughts & A Free Pick

Louisville has won three of the four ACC battles between the clubs and five of the last six meetings to take a 10-3 advantage in the series. The Cardinals were home at KFC Yum! Center a year ago when they sent the Hurricanes packing with a 71-66 victory, the final not enough to cover the -9 spread favoring Louisville. The final just made it ‘over’ 134½. All three of Miami’s wins in the series have come at home, the most recent in February 2016.

At some point, my string of winning ‘under’ plays – currently at 11 – is going to come to an end. But until it does, I really have no choice but to make that call for my free college basketball pick.
