We go to the Pac-12 Conference in college hoops where the USC Trojans (10-19,1-15) visit the Washington State Cougars (9-19, 2-14). Both of these teams are the Pac-12’s worst as they’re a collective 2-29 in inter-conference play. That all will change tonight as someone has to win.

Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 pm ET at the Wallis Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum and can be seen on ESPNU.

Due to home court advantage, odds makers have Washington State as a 4.5 point betting favorite for this game.

Can One of the Teams Run the Table in the Pac-12 Tournament?

That’s what they’ll have to do to get an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, but these teams aren’t going anywhere. USC has lost 10 straight games and 15 out of their last 16 games. While they have UCLA waiting in the wings, Washington State has played equally as bad. They’ve lost 7 straight games and have lost 11 out of their last 12 games. There’s not much good to say as both team statistically rank near the bottom of mostly all categories in NCAA Basketball and the Cougars are coming off of an embarrassing loss to their rival, the Washington Huskies, 72-49.

DaVonte Lacy

When looking at the Cougars team, this is the only name that USC needs to be concerned with as Lacy is a one man show that accounts for nearly 1/3 of Washington State’s points. Luckily for the Cougars, Lacy still has a year remaining. The junior has been dominant, averaging 19.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. Lacy is an efficient shooter that can knock down the 3-ball. He’s coming off of a 25 point performance against Washington, which is more than 50% of the Cougars points. Washington State needs to get this guy some help in the off-season. Look for possible double and triple teaming on Lacy, but look for Lacy to be WSU’s go to guy.

USC has a more effective offense than Washington State and should have their way on the boards. That said, it hasn’t equated to wins this season.

Byron Wesley leads the way for the Trojans, but he isn’t at full power. After missing games against California and Stanford, Wesley is averaging just 10.5 points in his last 2 games. Guard, Pe’Shon Howard was there to pick up the pieces against Oregon in a loss in which he contributed 20 points to the Trojans cause. Howard should be a factor in this game as the opponent is very vulnerable, even at home.

Let our Thursday NCAA Basketball Picks of the Day help you cash in tonight.

The public is leaning toward Washington State and for good reason. The favorite is 5-0-2 ATS in their last 7 head to head meetings between these two teams while the home team is 4-1-2 in the last 7 head to head meetings ATS.

While there’s not much good to say about with USC, Washington State is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games ATS vs. a team with a SU losing record.

2013-14 NCAA Tournament Betting Futures

I wouldn’t place a lot of money on this game, but the Cougars have home court advantage and more importantly, DaVonte Lacy. Look for Washington State to squeeze out a much needed win against a bottom-feeder such as USC.
