West Virginia (12-1 SU, 4-5 ATS) vs. Kansas State (11-2 SU, 3-7 ATS)

* Kansas State is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.

* Kansas State is 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games as a home underdog of 0.5-6.5.

* Kansas State is 34-16-3 ATS in their last 53 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

* West Virginia is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.

* West Virginia is 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win.

* West Virginia is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

This is a meeting between a pair of Big 12 rivals, both of whom have started the season in fine fashion with the Wildcats and Mountaineers breaking out to 11-2 and 12-1 straight up records respectively. However, neither team has been particularly kind to those who have included them in their college basketball picks, with West Virginia covering the number in just four of nine lined games while the Wildcats have covered in only three of 10 lined contests.

But this game will go to the home team where the Cats are 2-0 ATS over the Mountaineers over the past two seasons in games played on their home court. Both teams have top defenses, with West Virginia allowing just 64.6 PPG (ranked 34th) while Kansas State surrenders just 63.2 PPG (ranked 25th). The stat sheet may reflect a big advantage for West Virginia in point production, averaging 84.8 points per game (ranked 27th) versus just 77.8 PPG (ranked 107th) for the Cats but K State has played a better caliber opponent this season and revved up their offense in their last outing with a 91-75 road victory over their first conference opponent, Iowa State.

This game will be decided by how well West Virginia responds to a defense that is statistically better than theirs and if the Mountaineers can get the ball down low. I believe the Wildcats have a more mature team that will stymie West Virginia's three-point attempts and put them on their heels early with a rock solid defense and transitional baskets that will result in an outright win for the home underdogs. As long as the Wildcats keep the Mountaineers from dominating the post, and I believe they can, this will be a huge win for unranked Kansas State.

The college basketball odds have gone from West Virginia -3 to - 1 ½ at most of the majors. However, Bovada is giving us the best bang for our betting buck with +2 on the home pups. We don't think we'll need even one but we'll take the best number we can find and that's at Bovada.
