Winless in three SEC matchups, former Top-10 team Texas A&M is a road underdog on Tuesday's college basketball betting card against the No. 21 Kentucky Wildcats.

From a pick to go deep in the NCAA Tournament to deep doo-doo has the season turned for Texas A&M. Off to an oh-&-3 start in SEC play, Billy Kennedy and the Aggies are in desperate need of a win to get back on track, and they picked the toughest place in the conference to do so with a Tuesday night tussle at Rupp Arena against the Kentucky Wildcats.

ESPN will carry the 7 PM (ET) tip in Lexington, and bettors backing the Wildcats will carry a -6½ line into the contest according to Heritage, where the scoreboard hurdle has been set at 144½ with most other shops offering 145.

Aggies Face Back-To-Back Ranked Teams On Road

We can chalk up Texas A&M’s latest loss to LSU last Saturday to at least some bad luck. Tremont Waters’ two 3-pointers in the final 12 seconds lifted the Tigers to the 69-68 win, the winning bucket a desperate off-balanced heave to sink the Aggies. Still, Kennedy’s crew didn’t get it done as 7-point chalk against a so-so LSU squad, and the fact remains A&M was manhandled in the previous two games at Alabama and home against Florida. Now the Ags have to hit the road this week with a tough matchup at Tennessee following this one.

Meanwhile in Lexington, John Calipari and UK are coming off a loss in Knoxville to those Volunteers, Tennessee using a 7-0 spurt in the second half to rally from an 8-point halftime deficit. The Vols pulled away for the 76-65 win as 4-point favorites on the NCAA basketball odds, beating the Wildcats on the glass and by an 18-10 scoring margin at the charity stripe. The defeat left Kentucky 2-1 in SEC action, all three league contests staying ‘under’ totals after a 7-game run of ‘over’ winners.

Series History, Final Thoughts & A Free Pick

Kentucky has an 8-3 lead in the rivalry after winning and covering the last three, and Texas A&M is the underdog for the 9th straight meeting as SEC foes. The Aggies would just as soon forget their trip to Rupp last year, a 100-58 beatdown by the ‘Cats who hit 13 of 25 from beyond the arc and forced 25 turnovers.

Only so much of A&M’s recent woes can be blamed on the Aggies missing key players since some of of those players did themselves in with suspensions. They did get DJ Hogg back against LSU, but were without Robert Williams vs. LSU due to the flu and still miss Admon Gilder (knee) with the junior guard still doubtful tonight. My free college basketball pick on Kentucky is not so much confidence in the Wildcats as it is doubt in the Aggies.
