The Big 12 has been one of the best conferences in NCAA basketball. Today we have a tremendous matchup between Kansas Jayhawks vs. Oklahoma Sooners. Who will be our NCAA basketball pick?

NCAA basketball odds experts have come out making Oklahoma a -4.5 home favorite and the total at 156. Earlier this week we went against the Sooners grabbing the points with Texas, but that was because of the situation and matchup. Today for one of my selections I will back Oklahoma minus the points as I look for them to win this game by close to double digits.

Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas comes into this game averaging 81.2 points per game while shooting 48.2% from the field, and allowing 68.6 points per game on 40.9% shooting from the field. On the season they are 14-8 overall against the spread, and 7-4 on the road. Prior to their last road win at TCU Kansas lost their last three road games at West Virginia, Oklahoma State, and Iowa State. In each of those games they lost by double digits so I don't want to over think this matchup too much because of the name they have on their jersey. Offensively they are extremely good and rank in the better part of the country in most offensive statistics highlighted by shooting 41.5% from beyond the arc which ranks ninth in the country. On the defensive side they have been good, but not great. What might hurt them today is the fact that they allow opponents to shoot 33.7% from distance which ranks well out of the top 100 teams. This is where Oklahoma thrives and will be a point of contention. Bill Self is one of the best coaches in college basketball but this season has been a trying one for him, and it looks like for the first time in a long time Kansas looks like they will not win the Big 12. They are great at home, but have been less than stellar on the road.

Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma's averaging 84.1 points per game while shooting 47.3% from the field, and allowing 71.4 points per game on 40% shooting from the field. On the season they are 10-11 overall against the spread, and 5-5 at home. As mentioned, we went against them grabbing the points when they took on Texas earlier this week. That was good value on a tough spot for Oklahoma and I was impressed how they fought back and found a way to win. They are undefeated at home, but in their contests against the better teams in the league like West Virginia, Iowa State, and Texas the games went down to the wire. I don't anticipate that happening today because this will be the first time this season where they have had back to back home games in league play. Being at home the entire week will be very helpful for them to come out and play one of their best games of the year. Offensively they're one of the best in the country and rank first shooting 45.1% from distance. Defensively they have also played very well highlighted by ranking 17th in the country in opponent shooting percentage.

I don't think this game will go down to the wire like some may anticipate. For one of your NCAA basketball picks I recommend backing Oklahoma minus the points to win this game by close to double digits. Kansas is good but not as elite as they have been in years past, this is Oklahoma's chance to take over the Big 12 title race and I don't think they will waste it.
