First Four winners from major conferences have had an inclination to advance further in the NCAA Tournament than most would expect. Is Kansas State that next team to do? The No. 11 Cats face No. 6 Cincinnati on Friday.

Kansas State Breakdown

We knew going in Kansas State (21-13, 16-13-1 ATS) was going to have an opportunity to score against Wake Forest's rather unimposing defense on Tuesday in the First four, but nobody would have predicted the Wildcats would make baskets like it was a "Pop-a-Shot" game, connecting on 66 percent against the Demon Deacons in a 95-88 win. K-State appears to be clicking in winning four of five (5-0 ATS), and Coach Bruce Webber's club is in the Top 30 nationally in turnovers forced. With Cincinnati having a number of poor shooting games of late, if Wildcats can keep the Bearcats offense off-balance they have a shot at beating the college basketball odds set at +3 against them by sportsbooks.

Cincinnati Breakdown

Coach Mick Cronin was grumbling recently about seeding and placement, so when he had little to say about the Bearcats being sent to Sacramento one could read his mind in spite of the silence. For Cincinnati (29-5, 16-14-1 ATS) to defeat K-State, it will need to work the ball more inside as Bearcats have shot under 39 percent four times in their last six games. UC will have to step up the defense to take the Wildcats out of their comfort zone, and they are wholly capable of performing in that manner in holding teams to 38.5 percent on the season. If Cincy avoids turnovers, this is a game it will win.

What To Watch For

For college basketball picks, I am all over Cincinnati. I'm always on the hunt for teamsthat have extreme shooting games and strongly believe in the "pendulum effect." KSU shot an obscene percentage  vs. Wake, and since Monday has flown to Dayton and now Sacramento. With how the Bearcats' defense can play, it will be Cincy by double digits.
