Big Monday plops down in Kansas tonight, where the Jayhawks are favored on the NCAA basketball odds to hand the Oklahoma Sooners their 6th straight loss.

Comparisons of Oklahoma freshman Trae Young and Oklahoma to Stephen Curry and Davidson 10 years ago were only natural a while back when the Sooners were winning. Now that the losses are piling up for OU, those comparisons aren’t made as often to a Davidson team that went 20-0 in conference play and 29-7 overall with an Elite Eight appearance.

The Cinderella run for Curry and the Wildcats would come to an end against eventual national champ Kansas, Oklahoma’s opponent tonight in Lawrence. While the season won’t end for Young and the Sooners if they lose the 9 PM (ET) tip on ESPN, things could get turned around if they can pull off their first win in Lawrence in a quarter-century. Bookmaker is selling Kansas at -8½ with 166½ for the total.

Sooners 1-6 SU & ATS On Big 12 Highway

An upset at Allen Fieldhouse would not only stop a 5-game Oklahoma skid, but also give the Sooners a season sweep of the Jayhawks after winning 85-80 in Norman about four weeks ago. Young finished with 26 for OU that night as the Sooners held on as 2-point home chalk. Kansas closed the contest without a point over the final 2½ minutes, and was outscored 20-6 at the free throw line. The Jayhawks hold a 146-67 advantage in the rivalry and had won 4 straight before losing in Norman. Oklahoma has covered three of the last four, each of those games falling short of the totals.

Oklahoma’s latest loss came Saturday at home to Texas, the Longhorns completing a sweep of their own against the Sooners. It was the eighth setback in the last 10 games for Lon Kruger’s kids, and 10th time in 11 games they failed to cover the NCAA basketball odds after closing as 6½-point favorites against Texas. While Allen Fieldhouse hasn’t been as tough on visitors this season as in years past, Oklahoma has not been able to win on the road in conference play, dropping six in a row after opening the Big 12 schedule with a win at TCU.

Jayhawks Tied With Texas Tech At Top Of Big 12

A win this evening would give Bill Self’s squad the temporary lead in the Big 12, Kansas currently knotted with Texas Tech and searching for its record 14th straight regular season crown. The Jayhawks are coming off a 77-69 decision vs. West Virginia two nights ago, rallying from a 12-point deficit in the final 10 minutes and using a 26-1 scoring advantage at the charity stripe to avoid a fifth loss in Lawrence this season.

Oklahoma really needs a win, but this is the wrong place at the wrong time to get it. Put me down for a free NCAA basketball pick on the Jayhawks.
