Two college basketball rematches tonight include Oakland at IUPUI, and Maryland visiting Northwestern. Can we find some value in backing the underdogs in these matchups?

In their previous matchup the season Oakland took care business, winning by eight at home, and on the college basketball odds board they came out a -5 favorite for tonight's rematch. For my NCAAB picks in this game I will back IUPUI plus the points, as I think they have a chance to win this game straight up. Both teams have not been playing stellar basketball, with Oakland losing three of their last six games and IUPUI winning only four of its past 10. What I like tonight are the home and away statistics, which favor the Jaguars almost across the board. Oakland has better statistics overall this season but on the road they are shooting just 43.1 percent, compared to the Jaguars hitting at a 46.4-percent clip at home. As well, the Jaguars have better shooting efficiency and defensively are slightly better than Oakland in scoring defense and field goals made per game. Being at home will be the difference in this matchup, so grab the points.

Northwestern just suffered what I believe was their worst defeat of the season, losing to Michigan State at home in a game they led by more than 20 points. Northwestern is a small -1 favorite on today's college basketball odds board but I don’t think they will bound back, so with my NCAAB picks I will take Maryland to win this game straight up. Just more than a week ago Maryland handled business at home, beating Northwestern 73-57, and I like for them to sweep the series. Not only is this a tough spot for Northwestern, but Maryland has better statistics across the board, starting with the defensive side where they allow just 40.9-percent shooting from their opponents compared to Northwestern’s 44 percent. What should be troublesome to the Wildcats as well is the fact Maryland is a very good road team statistically; on the road they’re shooting 46.5 percent overall and 37.6 percent from distance. Those two stats along with their shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage are all better than Northwestern’s statistics at home. Maryland is simply the better team and I think they come out of this game with the win.
