Indiana State Sycamores

Alec Peters and the Valparaiso Crusaders have played rather well this season. Valpo has taken on all comers with a very tough schedule and is still sporting an 8-2 record. Tonight, the level of competition decreases as the the Crusaders square off against the Indiana State Sycamores. The betting odds look appealing and Valpo looks mighty attractive.

Indiana State Sycamores (5-5) vs Valparaiso Crusaders (8-2)

"Where's Larry Bird?"

Basically, that's who Indiana State would need to defeat Valparaiso as the Crusaders have faced 3 top 25 teams in Rhode Island, Oregon, and Kentucky. While Valpo might not be at the level of a Kentucky, they're in the discussion to get into the AP Top 25 and 8 1/2 points in this game seems very little for the Crusaders to lay. They appear to be really good value as they're led by senior Alec Peters.

Wooden Award Finalist?

I don't know if Alec Peters is in that category, but one thing that he's good at and that's putting the rock in the hole. For the season, Peters is averaging 25.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. He's also automatic from the charity stripe as he's converting on 95% of his free throw attempts. Quite simply, it doesn't get any better than that. If this game was actually close, which is won't be, the Crusaders will have the ball in Peters' hands at all times. This is a player that scored 23 points against Kentucky and 24 points versus Oregon. He's the real deal and the Sycamores defense will need to key in on him or this game will get out of hand very quickly.

Better Than Their Record?

Where the Sycamores are concerned, the odds are quite low as this is a team that lost to Iowa State by 2 points and defeated a top 25 team in the Butler Bulldogs. They are dangerous and if senior Brenton Scott can find some open looks, the Sycamores could be a slight threat, but look for Scott to play well in defeat. He's the main source of offense on ISU, averaging 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. While Indiana State has played well at times, their record tells the story. Valpo is the pick at attractive odds.
