In two of the better matchups in college basketball Monday, North Carolina travels to Virginia Tech, and West Virginia visits TCU. Is there value in backing the home underdogs with your NCAAB picks?

Free NCAAB Pick: Virginia Tech +4.5Best Line Offered: Pinnacle

North Carolina has absolutely owned this series, with Virginia Tech not winning since 2010. Oddsmakers have taken that into account, I believe, and made North Carolina a solid -4.5 road favorite on the NCAAB odds board. However, I will take Buzz Williams and Virginia Tech plus the points in my NCAAB picks. I actually think Virginia Tech has a decent chance of pulling off the upset, as these teams match up well. This should be a very up-tempo affair, with North Carolina coming in averaging 64.5 attempts per game, ranking ninth in the country. This fits really well with Virginia Tech, which likes to get up and down the floor as well and is No. 1 in the country in shooting efficiency. Surprisingly, despite having some very solid statistics on both sides of the ball, Virginia Tech is just 13-6 and has dropped four of its last six games, beating only Pittsburgh and Wake Forest. When we start to break this game down, though, I think there is good value in taking the points, as Virginia Tech is allowing opponents to shoot less than 43 percent from the floor.

Monday College Basketball: West Virginia vs. Texas Christian

Talk about owning a series. West Virginia has won every game against TCU in their 11 matchups dating to 2013. That statistic alone gets my radar up, considering that West Virginia is just a -1 road favorite on the NCAAB odds board. As we start to break down the statistics and matchups for my NCAA picks, I will take Texas Christian to win this game straight up. This is arguably the best TCU team Jamie Dixon has had, or that we have seen this decade. On the offensive side of the ball they have been stellar, ranking 10th in the country in shooting efficiency and ninth in shooting 50.4 percent from the floor. They also have been deadly from distance, shooting 40.8 percent to rank 17th. The issue for them is on the defensive side of the ball, where they have definitely suffered by allowing opponents to shoot more than 46 percent. However, they are at home and I expect them to step up in this spot. West Virginia has been solid defensively, but they could struggle on offense and currently are shooting just 43 percent. In the end, TCU at home has a very good chance to pull the upset.
