Bruce Pearl has Auburn shining brightest in the SEC and the Tigers are a solid play as favorites on the NCAA basketball odds against Texas A&M.

Free NCAAB Pick: Auburn -6½Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

If hardwood results between Texas A&M and Auburn were anything like their gridiron get-togethers, we could feel pretty good taking the Aggies straight up Wednesday night when they travel to meet the No. 8 Tigers.

Road teams in the Texas A&M-Auburn football rivalry have won all six games since the Aggies joined the SEC, and if it were that easy to bet on the basketball courts, tonight’s tilt at 9 PM (ET) on ESPN2 would provide a very nice payday. NCAA basketball odds for the clash have Auburn backers starting 6½-7 in the hole with 150 for the total. A winning money line play on Texas A&M would pay somewhere in the vicinity of +250.

Auburn 12-0 At Home, 8-2 ATS

The horrendous start to the conference campaign has taken a turn for the better – much better – for Billy Kennedy and the Aggies. They have won four of their last five SEC collisions, the latest being an 83-60 triumph this past weekend against a South Carolina team Texas A&M was laying 7 at Bookmaker. All four of those victories were at home, however, and the Aggies have dropped all four road games while covering just one of those.

Auburn has been one of the – if not the – biggest surprises this year, Bruce Pearl elevating the program to heights rarely seen before. No. 8 status in the AP is the highest the Tigers have been since ranking seventh midway through 1999-2000, and if they can keep the lead in the SEC standings, it would be just their third regular season title. That Auburn has down this without Danjel Purifoy and Austin Wiley makes it even more remarkable. Both players were suspended at the start of the season, and have said they will enter their names in the June NBA Draft.

Series Notes, Final Thoughts & A Free Pick

This is the third consecutive season the teams are only scheduled against each other one time, and Texas A&M enters the matchup with a 9-4 advantage in the rivalry after taking the last two. The Aggies had a relatively easy time of it two years ago at Auburn Arena, leaving with an 81-63 decision as 11 point road chalk, following up on that with a very similar outcome last season at home in an 81-62 victory laying 7. Both games fell short of the totals, leaving the ‘under’ on a 4-game run in the series.

Texas A&M is back to full strength and, yes, the Aggies are capable of the outright upset. Just not tonight when the Tigers make a winner of my free college basketball pick.

It's safe to say that freshman @chuma_okeke likes playing in Auburn's "run-and-gun" offense.
