Currently on a 5 game winning streak, the Wisconsin Badgers find themselves in an intrastate matchup against a Green Bay Phoenix team who have lost 3 out of their last 4 games and are going nowhere fast. While Wisky can't take any opponent for granted, they sport one of the better defenses in the country and with superstar Nigel Hayes leading the way, the Badgers starters could be taking an early seat in an apparent blowout.

Green Bay Phoenix (4-5) vs #14 Wisconsin Badgers (9-2)Momentum Going Into Inter-Conference Play

The Wisconsin Badgers are battle-tested and with mixed results. Their two losses of the season have come against the North Carolina Tarheels and Creighton Blue Jays. Wisconsin has proceeded to battle back with a convincing win over Syracuse and possesses a good deal of momentum going into this game and into inter-conference play and inter-conference play usually determines how good a season that a respective team will have. In the meanwhile, the Badgers are a heavy 21 1/2 point betting favorite and the question is, "Does Green Bay have enough state pride or talent to be competitive in this ball game?"

Bronson Koenig

I briefly mentioned Nigel Hayes before, but the Badgers won't go anywhere if Wisconsin native and senior guard, Bronson Koenig, isn't on top of his game.

Koenig, who leads the Badgers in scoring a 16 points per game, has been a consistent source of offense for Wisconsin lately. In his last 4 games, he's averaging 18.7 points per game and has hit at least 4 3-pointers in each of those games. Look for Koenig to continue the outstanding play unless this game get's out of hand and "garbage time" enters the scenario.

As for Nigel Hayes, he will be bringing the pain along with Ethan Happ (13.3 points, 9.5 rebounds) as this duo will clog up the paint and force Wisconsin-Green Bay to beat the Badgers from the outside. When Hayes get's the playing time, he can put up huge numbers. It's all dependent upon if each game is competitive or the game get's out of hand. This senior led team should have no problem in handling the Phoenix.

As for Green Bay, their defense has done a poor job, allowing an average of 88.5 points per game in their last 4 games. Senior, Charles Cooper, leads the Phoenix at 13.6 points per game. Cooper has lacked the shooting efficiency that he provided last season. This season, he's shooting just 39.2% from the field. In his last 2 games, he's averaged 17 points and has shot 14 for 29 from the field. Green Bay will certain accept a similar effort like that here against the Badgers.

Look for Wisconsin's defense to hold Green Bay in check and take advantage of the lack of defense that their opponent displays. Bet Wisky in a blowout.
