NCAA Basketball Odds Overview
NCAA Basketball odds have the Mustangs a +10.5 -113 underdog like at Pinnacle. Getting double digits is good value on a better than average team in Cal Poly, and I look for them to keep this game a lot closer than people anticipate. For my NCAA pick of the day, I will back the Mustangs plus the points.

Cal Poly Mustangs
Cal Poly is averaging 74.1 points per game while shooting 44.6% from the field, and allowing 74.9 points per game on 46% shooting from field.  Their first three losses of the year were pretty respectable losing by just two, five, and two points, but on Monday they got destroyed at St. Mary's. The Gaels, though, are the type of team that can do that in their small home gym and seemed to be one of those games where everything went perfect for them and the balls just kept dropping, it happens. Don't let that game dissuade you from backing the Mustangs though, as they are much better than one blowout. With some good returning players, especially at the guards, they have been scoring at a pretty solid rate and have also been very good averaging 40% from beyond the arc. They have also been fairly efficient at 52.2% in effective field goals. Defense is their staple but they have not been very good on that end so far this season, so I expect them to improve because the foundation is there. Tonight, they face a very good USC team, but I anticipate for them to bounce back from that horrible game against SMC.

USC Trojans
The Trojans are averaging 80.9 points per game while shooting 45.4% from the field, and allowing 69.1 points per game on 38.8% from the field. I recently backed the over when they took on Yale which was way off, but what I am continuing to find is that, although they like to push some tempo, they are playing very good defense. Andy Enfield seems to have something going on this year, and I like the direction this team is heading. Offensively, as mentioned, they are pushing the pace at 63.2 field goal attempts per game converting 28.7 made for some decent efficiency. What I really like is how they are playing on the defensive end allowing just 63, 55, and 56 points their last three games and keeping opponents to just  44.6% effective field goals. As they continue to get experience, this will be a very dangerous team to play in the PAC 12 the next few years, but tonight they are just giving away too many points to an underrated Cal Poly squad.

USC has the potential to become very good, but tonight for your NCAA Basketball pick, I recommend backing the Cal Poly Mustangs plus the points. Great spot to grab them in a game in which we should see a max effort on their end to erase the tough loss earlier in the week.
