With the level of competition very low for this Friday in NCAA Basketball, we are seeing a lot of low betting totals provided by odds makers. Many total go below the 120 mark.

Fairfield (7-21, 5-13) vs. Canisius (15-13,10-9)- total -122

No World Beaters Here
I'm going right back to the well as I've already shared my NCAA Basketball pick ATS for this game and have already mentioned that both of these teams are really awful despite Canisius' record. I might have to go over a bit of the same information, so bare with me as it pertains to the total for this matchup.

Canisius has no legitimate scorer as Zach Lewis leads the team at 13.1 points per game and Lewis hasn't had a double-digit effort in his last 5 games. This is a team that shoots poorly as 4 out of their top 5 scorers are hovering around the 40% mark from the field. The Griffins have already played the Stags in a very low scoring affair, a 64-50 victory. I'm expecting another low score & will bet under the NCAA Basketball odds total.

Although Fairfield features Marcus Gilbert (16.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg.), this is a team that has a difficult time scoring points and hoists up many unnecessary shots. Fairfield averages 60 points per game, but shoots below 40% from the field. Farifield has failed to crack the 60 point mark in 6 out of their last 7 games. In their last game, they finally managed to break a 10 game losing streak with a win over St. Peter's, but managed just 57 points of offense in a 57-43 victory. Look for a low scoring game between these two untalented teams to close out the regular season.

Manhattan (15-12, 12-6) vs. Iona (23-6, 16-2)

Hated Rivals
I have personally been to some of these games and I can tell you first hand that these two teams and their fans, dislike eachother intensely. I'm expecting a very competitive matchup as Manhattan is a very competitive team in the MAAC Conference. Odds makers have the total placed very high at 151.5, but despite Iona averaging 80.3 points per game, I'm not so sure that these teams will reach such a high betting total.

Iona has been on fire, winning 10 straight games. This will be a huge test for the Jaspers in this rivalry. That said, the Gaels have scored 72 points or less in their last 5 games. This doesn't come near the total provided by odds makers.

Gaels Offense
Iona can really drill the 3-ball as their top 4 scorers all shoot 38% or more from beyond the arc. This is a team that features the outstanding tandem of David Laury (20.6 ppg, 9.5 rpg) and A.J. English (19.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 5.4 apg). These are huge numbers at the collegiate level and Iona is a very deep team offensively.

In his last 2 games, Laury has played exceptionally well, averaging 22.5 points and 10.5 rebounds on 15 of 26 shooting from the field. English has also put up huge numbers as of late, but is coming off of a 2 for 11 shooting performance from 3 point range against Monmouth. He's the one key player that tends to be a volume shooter (putting up poor shots), but in the end, it hasn't hurt the Gaels where winning is concerned. My only concern for an over is that Iona has been playing lower scoring games consistently as of late.

Manhattan is led by a couple of undersized forwards in Emmy Andujar and Shane Richards. Andujar can basically do it all at 6 foot 6 as the Bronx native is averaging 2.2 steals and 7.4 rebounds to go along with his team leading 16.4 points per game. One weakness to Andujar's game is his tendency to turn the ball over. While Iona is a much superior squad, expect this game to be competitive. No matter how you slice it, the total is simply too high for the way that these teams have been playing as of late. Place your NCAA Basketball pick on the 'under' with confidence.
