With wins over Florida State and West Virginia earlier this season, one would think that the Temple Owls were headed for a special season. That all changed when inter-conference came into play. Today they face Tulane and our expert capper has all the info you need.

Temple Owls vs Tulane Green Wave

One Team Must Win

As bad as it may seem for both squads, Temple is a team that's proven that they can beat AP Top 25 opponents. They've just fallen apart where the inter-conference play is concerned and this is basically a game that they must win or they'll fall into the same category as Tulane.

Temple has really been ineffective on the defensive end of the court and is average at best offensively with guard Shizz Alston Jr. leading the way.

Alston Jr. had been playing really well as of late with 3 consecutive games of 20 points or more until he came up short with just 9 points in a 79-66 loss to Houston. Let's remember, this is a player that finished with 25 points and 6 assists against a really good Cincinnati Bearcats squad. Look for Alston Jr. to bounce back in this game as the opposition leaves a lot to be desired.

Temple must focus on their defense as this is a team that's managed just 6 steals and 4 blocked shots all season long. Those are eye-popping numbers. That said, this isn't a team that commits many turnovers and that will surely benefit Temple.

Complete Incompetence

Tulane is also a team with just 6 assists and 4 blocked shots to their credit in 21 games. These are mind-blowing numbers and to make things worse, this isn't a squad that makes up for it on the offensive end as they average under 40% shooting from the field as a squad.

Junior guard Cameron Reynolds has great size and has really stepped up his game from last season as he's averaging 15.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He's been one of the few players that Tulane can rely on. Reynolds also had success against Cincinnati as he poured in 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the field. He will be a key player in tonight's game.

The Owls are the far superior team in this matchup. Look for them to pick up their 3rd conference win and cover the spread in the process.
