In a fairly dead even matchup, the Miami (FL) Hurricanes travel to Blacksburg to face the Virginia Tech Hokies. Both teams could sure use this game, but Miami is coming off of victories over Duke and Virginia and that will take them a long way in the NCAA seedings. Can the "U" pull off a 5th straight victory as they've come on strong late in the season?

Miami (FL) Hurricanes vs Virginia Tech Hokies

"D" for the "U"

The University of Miami has found a tremendous amount of success late in the season due to their outstanding defense. This is a team that allows a mere 63.3 points per game and have held Duke to 50 points and Virginia to 48 points. It doesn't get much better than that as Miami appears to be fantastic value as a 1.5 point betting favorite on the road.

One thing Miami would like to see is their leading scorer, senior Davon Reed, to get back on track for the stretch run.  In his last 2 games, Reed has averaged 9 points per game on 5 of 21 shooting from the field. That said, we must take into account that Reed was dealing with two of the best teams in the country in Duke and Virginia and Miami still managed to come out on top. Look for Reed to have a solid game here as his offensive contributions will be needed for a "w".

As for Virginia Tech, they should be a bit intimidated coming into this game with the way that Miami has been playing. These two teams have met before with Miami coming out on top, 74-68.

Zach LeDay

Virginia Tech is a team that can put the ball in the hoop. They're averaging a very appealing 40% from 3-point land with leading scorer Zach LeDay leading the way.

The senior possesses great size and this enables him to get down in the trenches and control the paint. For the season, LeDay is averaging 15.6 points and 7 rebounds per game. He's actually elevated his level of play as of late and Miami will need to focus on LeDay on the defensive end or Virginia Tech could possibly come away with the victory.

I'm siding with momentum as Miami's defense has been outstanding and they're coming off of two huge wins.
